I just read over at FSM that Neal Hefti passed on Saturday.

While he wasn't the big name to some he was still responsible for several memorable themes.

I was a big fan of both Batman and Odd Couple when I was growing up. He might be dead, but he'll continue to live on because of those two memorable themes.

He also gave us Route 66 and Lil' Darlin' plus a ton of other great big band standards. One of the best composers you didn't know you were listening too.

This is very sad....I know far more of his Big Band music than his other stuff, and will listen to The Atomic Mr Basie in his memory tonight....
