Holko 9,499
Bit disappointed by this one, leaving out the backing choir, shortening it etc. Gay Fish was better! Jay 37,287
South Park 25x01 Pajama Day Man, it was so nice to single a relatively simple episode again, just a silly one-off story, not part of some giant season arc. I was happy to have it not be all political too, until I realized the analogy they were going for with the pajamas The musical numbers were funny and it's great to see Mr. Garrison just be a teacher again. Did anybody else think Wendy's voice sounded different? New actress?
Jay 37,287
South Park 25x02 The Big Fix lolol that Token switcharoo was pretty funny. Of course it makes no sense, but it's damn funny. Stan's voice sounded echoey and not pitched right or something I didn't pay attention to that. I was too angry over the show retconning 25 years of history to guilt its audience for thinking their token black character was actually named something different. But there might be a reason for Stan's voice. Trey's health. https://www.distractify.com/p/why-does-stan-sound-different-south-park

Sweeping Strings 2,344
Different-sounding voices in SP COULD be their little dig at the likes of Dr Hibbert in the Simpsons now being done by a voice actor who sounds nothing like the previous one. Positivatee 327
But changing the voices of POC characters like Dr Hibbert and Apu was The Simpsons' way of becoming more politically correct, or at least giving opportunities to POC by not avoiding them in casting decisions. I never saw Hibbert as a caricature of blacks, but there's a whole documentary about issues with Apu. So the show "did right" with those communities by recasting their voices. Adrien Beard has always been the voice of Token Black, and he started out as the voice of Token's father early on. He was replaced by Trey for the last few seasons... Which was poked fun at by Randy for not sounding black, until the final scene of the episode. I think that turning "Token" from his real name to a nickname is another concession to the community to become more politically correct. It was funny 25 years ago, but maybe now that POC are more vocal in society than before about injustices and representation... Maybe this just isn't a hill that Trey and Matt really want to defend anymore. In retrospect, it's as clever of a retcon as they could create to fix the character and appeal to the POCC. I hope it stands.

Sweeping Strings 2,344
@Positivatee Oh, I know why the Simpsons did it ... Family Guy did it with the Cleveland voice actor too, the difference being that he does it using exactly the same voice that the previous guy did, you can't 'hear the join' as it were. The Simpsons not bothering to find someone who could make Dr Hibbert sound the way he had previously isn't a great surprise, given the show's ever-declining standards for the last couple of decades or so. Pellaeon 593
Yep, it appears that their current deal is for six episodes and 2-3 “movies” per year over the next 6 years. Parker and Stone burned out on South Park years ago, and I’ll take the present trickle over nothing at all, hands down. When it’s good it’s still the very best satire around. Cartman with the giant fake boobs was also funny, as was everyone calling Randy Karen, and Pi Pi made me crack up every time too.
