I'm very excited that Them is coming to blu, and Dark Victory arrives soon. Bette Davis at her very best. Also Dodge City on of my favorite Errol Flynn films. Also some Hammer Horror Collection volume 1. I'm officially excited. So far no summer film is an absolute must buy, though I am sure I will get some.

I almost forgot the Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Well that wins the worst packaging ever award, for sure!

Worse than the Breaking Bad keg?

Speaking of Breaking Bad, did anyone watch new British show HUMANS? It's channel 4. It's a bit Twilight Zoneish. I've read more than 1 person say it's the best thing since Breaking Bad. Doubtful, but there's nowt much else on lately is there.

And they still seem overpriced. 50% off sale and blu rays are still $20? You can get them on Amazon for $24, so it's not that much of a price difference.

well, it is when you by many.

e.g. if you buy 10, using the B&N sale is like buying 10 from Amazon with 2 of those being for free! :)

Normal Criterion prices range from $25-$35.

They're like Disney, whose blu-rays never drop below $20.

Amazon is actually having a "Prime Day" on Wednesday, July 15th which is supposed to put Black Friday sales to shame. Maybe they'll have some great deals.

Keep dreaming.

I'm sure they'll release a box set, but the discs inside will all be identical to the current discs. There might be an extra bonus disc with more stuff, but I wouldn't count on LOTR deleted scenes or any iso scores for a long while

In LOTR's case, Peter Jackson went kinda crazy in post production of The Two Towers and Return of the King and color-graded the shit out of them, so when it came time to release the trilogy on blu ray, he decided to re-color-grade FOTR to be more in line with how those 2 films look.

The original theatrical DVD of FOTR is the only way to see it in its original colors, unfortunately.

Even the EE of FOTR is color graded like TTT and ROTK.

Nine James Bond steelbooks are on the way to shelves September 15

Although the James Bond films are readily available on Blu-ray already, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment have a neat surprise today for those looking to spruce up their collections. Heading to shelves September 15th is a line of James Bond steelbooks that feature stylish cover art based on the film franchise’s famous opening titles. Click the image above for a larger look! Also on the way are new DVDs and collectible box-sets, timed ahead of the November 6th global release of SPECTRE, the 24th James Bond adventure.

The James Bond steelbooks will include six films featuring the SPECTRE organization (From Russia With Love, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Diamonds Are Forever, For Your Eyes Only) and the three recent Daniel Craig titles (Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall).

The new releases will also offer two new featurettes based on interviews with renowned Bond writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. “The Shadow of SPECTRE” concentrates on the history of SPECTRE, the fictional global criminal syndicate and terrorist organization. The second featurette, “The Story So Far,” recaps and relives the significant moments from the previous three Daniel Craig Bond films.

The Ultimate James Bond Collection, meanwhile, features all 23 iconic Bond films together in one Blu-ray box-set, which includes a 24th space for SPECTRE and, for the first time, digital copies of the collection. Also included is a new bonus disc exclusive featuring “Everything or Nothing,” a 90-minute documentary on the untold story of 007 and a pocket-sized James Bond 50 Years of Movie Posters book including the best posters from Dr. No through to SPECTRE. This collection will be exclusively available at Amazon.com.

Dedicated Actor Packs with new packaging will also be released on Blu-ray & DVD.
