Today I picked up DEATHLY HALLOWS 1, SUBMARINE and THE INCREDIBLES on blu along with ARKHAM CITY for PS3 all for about £50 at the local Best Buy, which is closing down.

Have you seen Submarine before? The trailer looked interesting, but a bit much like a Wes Anderson movie without the Anderson touch.

Was at Wally World (Wal-Mart) last night and had been eye balling Batman Begins on Blu-Ray for a while since I had The Dark Knight but not that one. It was only $15 and my dad was kind enough to get it for me.

I may end up buying the Nolan films as a trilogy box set anyway.

Same thing I'm doing. Gonna do the same for Mission Impossible too. $20 for the first three was a steal, but not when I know the same set will be out again in 6 months.

I may end up buying the Nolan films as a trilogy box set anyway. They need to fix The Dark Knight so it isn't changing its aspect ratio every time it shifts to IMAX mode.

Agreed. The same problem occurs with both "TRON Legacy", and "Brainstorm".

I"m amazed how great the Towering Inferno looks on Blu. I didn't expect it. Only the CGI looks bad.

  • 2 weeks later...

I get sick of ET but I never get sick of Jaws.

On the subject of E.T. though - I presume the Blu release is first and foremost the unmolested version?

According to Spielberg last year, yes.

I'm just as excited by the Universal monsters, especially BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN.

Is Batman Begins any good on BD? I've read some reviews that aren't kind to the picture quality.

I'm watching a bit of it now and it looks rather good to me. Very clean and crisp.

Complete 007 BR collection is coming out in October. Can't wait. Of course, it's 007's 50th anniversary this year. :)

It is actually already available for pre-order on Amazon: click

Me too.

Although I've never seen it I'd like the box to have "Never say never again" to complete the series but i read that it's not part of the official james Bond films.

So, it doesn't include this unfortunately.

That's right, it's not part of the official series. It was made by a complete differerent production company and is not part of the canon of the main film series.

It only exists because a writer from Thunderball managed to retain rights to make his own film adapatation after a decade long legal battle. He managed to lure Sean Connery to play the character again, even though he was now in his 50s.

That actually is a pretty decent price, especially considering it will probably get lower around the release day. Bravo, Sony/MGM.
