Ridley was truly pissed that The Last Duel failed at the Box office and blamed the audience:

Quote

“I think what it boils down to — what we’ve got today [are] the audiences who were brought up on these fucking cell phones,” Scott said. “The millennian, [who] do not ever want to be taught anything unless you told it on the cell phone…This is a broad stroke, but I think we’re dealing with it right now with Facebook. This is a misdirection that has happened where it’s given the wrong kind of confidence to this latest generation, I think.”

Glad that for once a great director doesn't lower himself to spit on super heroes movies to explain his previous movie failure at the box office and to promote his new one.

True, nobody here was interested. Perhaps Ridley should consider making the next Ghostbusters movie?

Ah, he's about to start filming Napoleon with Joaquin Phoenix. Another historic movie?!

Instead of blaming "kids these days who can't be without their smartphones", Scott should've complained with Disney, who decided his adult movie would come out in October one week after a blockbuster made for the same demographic: No Time to Die.

When casual adult audiences were asked to choose between James Bond and a new historical drama with a depressing premise, most of them chose the spy.

So, in the end, Scott is right to blame the audience. Really, if it wasn't because of 007, it would have been another franchise, which is what many directors have complained about, that cinema is only reserved for the big movie franchises or the next big Nolan spectacle.

It won't be long before the latest Ridley Scott movie goes straight to streaming (unless it's an Alien or Gladiator sequel).

Saw the Jurassic Park Dominion  prologue.

As Dr Ian Malcom said that is one big pile of shit.

Just wondering would the prologue be in the movie or is it something to see before it like the BR49 and Covenant short films?

  • 2 weeks later...

The film suffered big losses (budget was a $100 million and I actually feel it could have been made for a whole lot less), but those who have seen it like it. However, it's not the spectacle and escapism people (here and elsewhere) crave for.

Luckily for him, he still has his sequel to Gladiator, which should be enough to make up for past financial failures.

A sequel to the beloved film Gladiator from the man who brought you Prometheus, a sequel to the beloved film Alien. I can't help but swell with hope.

Ridley Scott to Journalist Who Says ‘Last Duel’ Is More Realistic Than His Past Films: ‘Go F*ck Yourself’

Ridley has been extremely angry after the failure of The Last Duel. Someone please give him something soothing.

He's always been like this lol

He is a passionate ginger who is more miss than hit when it comes to quality.

He didn't need to pull the trigger. The gun has an alternate way to fire: the hammer on the back.

He admits that he pulled the hammer back, and then he let it go.

Bang. If the hammer doesn't lock into place, the gun fires.

Deep Water, Adrian Lyne's first film in 20 years, was just pulled from theatrical release by 20th Century Studios

It was supposed to be releasing next month.  It was filmed in 2019, before Affleck filmed The Last Duel and The Tender Bar
