Sigh. This is the DC studios logo they'll be using.

It's kinda bad. It's the logo DC used from the mid 70s until the mid 2000s (aka the logo used in James Gunn's formative years) followed by "Studios" in a similar way Marvel Studios writes their own logo, with one bar above and one below the word.

This vs Mufasa... who's gonna win?

Mufasa, obviously, because it's Disney. But I know which one will probably be the better film

Between Reality and Winner, I'd bet that Reality will be the winner of the two Reality Winner films.

(Meaning the better film. Of course, in reality, the winner is the one which makes more money, which will probably be Winner...)

Reality didn't play in theaters so it technically made no (box office) money right?  It was direct to Max?

I went in not expecting much, or rather not really knowing what to expect I guess, and boy, I really liked it.  The fact that I had never heard of the real person or what they did was a benefit, I think.  And Sweeney proved in it that she actually can act (very well).  But a lot of roles she accepts don't require her to stretch her acting muscles at all.  I hope she continues to take parts like this in between the big paycheck ones.

This looks interesting.

2073, Starring Samantha Morton, directed by Asif Kapadia.

Hard pass. I've come to loathe preachy films like this. And it looks depressing AF.

Interesting. I was thinking the exact opposite.

This looks as though it might just have something to say. What, I do not know, but I'm intrigued to find out.

The trailer is a bit sanctimonious, but then trailers are often wide of the mark as representations of the films. Hadn’t heard of this one before; it will be interesting to see what sort of reception it gets.

I found Civil War to be a very different (and much better) film than anticipated on the basis of the marketing.

It is the same company that decided to combine the original and reboot iterations of Karate Kid, so I wouldn't put it past them to make both movies in this instance.

No wait, that's Sony. Even then, we are getting two tonally different Batman movies from WB, so that wouldn't be too different from this.

Was there anything in the Jackie Chan/Jaden Smith movie that said it didn't take place in the same universe of the Macchio movies (and show)? I think this is one of the easier franchise blends to make without resorting to multiverses or whatever.

Nothing at all, really, just that normally a reboot is seen as a new continuity/universe unless specifically stated otherwise.

For how long BTTF and ET will resist before Hollywood inevitably makes "legacy sequels"?

As long as Robert Zemeckis and Steven Spielberg are alive.

And I don't think many are clamouring for an E.T. sequel, anyway...

It has faded from the pop-cultural landscape, and I'd say is pretty much only fondly remembered by those who grew up with it.

BTTF, on the other hand...

Mostly because JW can’t be arsed to write a musical based on ET. Honestly. Some people. 😜

Shailene Woodley to Star in Janis Joplin Biopic

Hollywood's been trying to make this movie forever.  I remember when Pink was going to star when she was still in her 20s

Joplin died when she was 27, and Woodley is 32 now.  Shouldn't they have found a mid-20s actress to play her?

The makers of that graphic forgot that Jurassic World 4 is officially Jurassic world Rebirth now?

It's interesting how many of the 2025 movies on that graphic had troubles that delayed them

  1. Blade - in development hell since it was announced the summer of 2019.  It still hasn't started filming yet, 14 months before release date.
  2. Avatar: Fire and Ash - started filming in 2017 when it was supposed to come out in December 2021.  By the time Avatar 2 settled into its December 2022 release, this was supposed to come out in December 2024, then got delayed again to December 2025.

  3. Untitled 8th Mission Impossible film - they started filming this in March 2022 when it was originally supposed to come out on July 7th, 2023
  4. Snow White - Filmed from March to July 2022, originally scheduled for March 22nd, 2024
  5. Mickey 17 - Filmed from August to December of 2022, originally scheduled for March 29th, 2024
  6. John Wick Presents: Ballerina - started filming in November 2022, originally supposed to release June 7th, 2024
  7. Captain America: Brave New World - starting filming March 2023, originally scheduled for May 3rd, 2024
  8. Thunderbolts* - originally supposed to start filming in June 2023 and release on July 26th, 2024

I believe the rest were always 2025 movies.  Though some of the stuff on this graphic I've never heard of before.

I sincerely doubt the Blade movie is coming out next year... Or at all, even. I wouldn't be surprised to see it got cancelled or that Mahershala Ali is out of the role.

SCORE-wise, I see a lot of stuff on that graphic I'm interesting in hearing:

Jurassic Park 7, How To Train Your Dragon 4, Now You See Me 3, Avatar 3, Benoit Blanc 3, Zootopia 2, Fantastic 4

MOVIE-wise, only Wake Up Dead Man particularly excites me.  I'll certainly see HTTYD remake, Avatar 3, ScarJo Jurassic, Fantastic 4, and NYSM3.  I liked the first Nobody but it sure didn't need a sequel.  I love most of PTAnderson's work but haven't seen them all and haven't looked up what this one's about.  Mickey 17 I hope is good.  Superman and other MCU movies, I'm sure I'll see eventually but can't say I'm excited much by them.  Zootopia 1 is great but it didn't need a sequel.  Don't know enough about Elio but Pixar's hit or miss lately.  I loved Upgrade and Invisible Man but Wolf Man doesn't look as interesting.  I never saw Mission Impossible 7, but I guess I'll eventually see it and 8.

Classic FM reports that Anthony Hopkins will play Georg Friedrich Händel in an upcoming biopic supposedly centred around the composition of Händel's Messiah:

Händel was 56 when he wrote the Messiah, and 74 at the time of his death. Hopkins is 86 now.

I mean, we have people in their late 20s/early 30s playing teenagers since the dawn of Hollywood...
