How original it is to use Beethoven's ninth in a trailer with that bold idiot. And put an extra heavy drumset there to be even funnier.

have you seen the original Die Hard? the music was used in that film too. it's called continuity.

however it is just terrible looking.

No, it doesn't. Nor did I imply any such thing. Trailers are the equivalent of TV commercials, and thus they use music and editing techniques to try and draw in as many consumers as possible.

hornist commented on its implementation and sarcastically remarked, "Yes, awesome." From this we can deduce that he does not think its use is awesome and that the film looks bad. You replied that you did not like it either, so I therefore deduced that you think it looks bad as well. This ultimately leads back to my original point: the use of the drumset is a marketing technique and thus does not reflect on the final film.

If your comment was merely an opinionated response to this remix of Beethoven's 9th as music, well then who the hell cares? No one's listening to this remix for enjoyment. I do like Wendy Carlos' synthesized versions from A Clockwork Orange though. Hmm...

I've tried to, but I just have a hard time tolerating them. Sounds too dated my tastes....

I don't know...sometimes I wonder if I was just conditioned against them ;)

I don't know, it doesn't register to me as dated, or at leats dated in a bad sense. I actually find the sound ffect quite evoking. Great in the film.

It suits the film, but I still find them dated. Maybe it's a matter of personal taste, but whenever I hear them, I just find them jarring. It took me a while to get used to them in context too. And while I understand the logic behind their use, I sometimes find the music to be the one aspect of the film that hasn't aged too well.

I would have preferred Kubrick having stuck with the original pieces, which would have been equally appropriate, if not more so imho.

The music, despite its effectiveness, is the one thing that prevents A Clockwork Orange from reaching the timelessness of a film like 2001: A Space Odyssey.

In terms of production (in a visual and audio sense) 2001 has aged better than A Clockwork Orange. I wasn't particularly referring to the quality of the films.

Wendy's synthesized rendition of Beethoven against those visuals ... Wow! The sheer chemistry that takes between sound and vision is radiant! That's movie moments at their best. A classic!

I love the part with the little Beethoven march on synth and Alex dressing weird going through the market or whatever it was.

A Clockwork Orange > 2001: A Space Odyssey

I would order the Kubricks I've seen in this manner:

1) 2001: A Space Odyssey. (The best science-fiction film I've ever seen.)

2) Paths of Glory. (The best war film I've ever seen.)

3) Dr Strangelove. (The best... something I've ever seen.)

4) The Shining (My favourite horror film, hands down)

5) Full Metal Jacket, A Clockwork Orange, Barry Lyndon, changing depending on my mood.

I haven't seen the others yet but I have Lolita and The Killing.

Singer needs a hit, but it's a bit lame of him to return to the franchise in desperation after he walked away from it.

He didn't walk away. Fox dragged their feet signing him back for X-Men 3, so he agreed to do Superman Returns for WB because they were ready to start.

Routh did channel Reeves quite well. Unfortunately he does that in any role.

Cavill will have an opportunity to make this his own Superman as he will be starting fresh. His previous work does not show him to be anything exceptional however.

Christopher was only exceptional as Supes too.

no he was exceptional in many things. he was chilling as the child molestor.

he was clearly having a blast in DeathTrap

You are biased. The world remembers him for Supes, not for the other stuff he has done. Nobody can do Supes like Reeve, it was like he was born for it, but he can be easily replaced when it comes to his other roles.

It's true to some extent but you pigeonhole him into a single role, I saw him in other stuff, Yes he will always be Superman because he was brilliant and it was his first role of significance though not his first.

Johnn Wayne will always be a cowboy, DeNiro a gangster, Ledger the Joker but all played other roles.

I don't pigeonhole him at all. I like Reeve, always did, always will. I even think he's underrated as an actor, but other than Supes, he never striked me as "exceptional". For me, the word 'exceptional' means better than great. Christopher Reeve was better than great in all what he did? That sounds like fanboy talk to me, Joey.

As I recall, Bubba-hotep was Bruce Campbell approved by virtue of Bruce Campbell being in it. And that was truly one of the worst movies I ever made the unfortunate decision to watch. But I'm willing to give this movie a shot.

I knew there were more but I can't recall all the duo's.

I do remember some trio's, Weird Science, Real Genius and My Science Project,

as well as the Abyss, Leviathan, and DeepStar Six, (there were 3 other films released that year with similar themes but these were the big 3), all about underwater encounters.
