John Barry's track record for Bond songs is unparalleled, but in the end I went with Live and Let Die. I love the structure of the record, the timpani and the woodwind(?) 'shrieks'. I love the quirky bridge and the brass hits. It's just an all round cracker of a Bond record. Oh and I absolutely LOVE the latest song.

Has to be "Goldfinger". Who can't help but emulate the throaty quiver in the voice when singing along to Goldfinger? ;)

And "We have all the time in the world" is my second choice because OHMSS is my favourite Bond movie and score. :)

"Live and Let die" is one that promises so much and then totally loses the plot (imo). But the early parts of the song are great

I voted "Goldfinger," though "A View to a Kill" might be a very close second.

Hell, I love a lot of them. Not "The Man with the Golden Gun" or "Tomorrow Never Dies," though.

Still haven't heard "Another Way to Die." Come on, Nov. 14...!

Out of these I pick "Goldfinger", though I am quite torn between it and "Thunderball", "We Have All The Time in The World", "Nobody Does it Better" and "You Know My Name".

...and where is "GoldenEye", "Surrender" or the awesome "The Look of Love"???

Intersting article HERE about Bond Songs that didn't make the final cut.....the Never Say Never Again song is a good'un (though I must admit I like the Lani Hall song too), but there are a couple on there that are completely new to me....anyone that might like to provide me with an mp3 of the alternate You Only Live Twice - please feel free!!!!!!!!!

Whoa, my thread (and poll) has magically rearranged itself and previously cast votes have seemingly vanished, including my own for Live and Let Die! I/We can't vote again...

Moderator, just delete the the whole thing! Its a failure and a mess :)

I would've voted for SURRENDER from Tomorrow Never Dies, but I went with YOU KNOW MY NAME from CR. What can I say, I love the lyrics

It was a close race between "Thunderball" and "You know my name", but in the end I had to give it to "Thunderball". No voice can beat Tom Jones

If "Surrender" had made the list, I'm fairly certain I'd have to reconsider...

Oh, damn, this is REALLY hard, I love so many of them! I voted for You Know My Name, but it is very closely followed - if not equalled - by Diamonds Are Forever, All Time High, Nobody Does It Better, Licence To Kill and The World Is Not Enough, these seem to be my favourites, but all the rest are also excellent (except of course Die Another Day :o).

  • 3 weeks later...

I've gotten to the point where I like parts of "Another Way to Die"; the chorus is pretty good, and some of the instrumental sections are good. But it goes nowhere ultimately, and overall, I'd say it's pretty weak.

A vote for it as favorite Bond song is a vote I've got to point a Spockian eyebrow at.

This is a fantastic article!

I particularly love the quote from Don Black about the current Bond songs - and wanting to get Shirley bassey to sing them all!

Holy crap, that Johnny Cash song is definately wrong for James Bond but if someone made a western called Thunderball that song would kick ass as the title cue.

I kinda like Alice Cooper's Man With The Golden Gun and Blondie's song isn't that bad either.
