Nick Parker 3,049 Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Over the months, JWFan artyjeffery has provided us a myriad of hilarious cartoons, ranging from fecal cloning of John Williams to John Williams' ode to Hans Zimmer. This thread is a thread of appreciation to our excellent artist, as well as a thread for him to post his newest cartoons for us to enjoy. "Hats off to you", I believe the phrase is.
bruckhorn 134 Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 To view his various artwork, check out his blog: http://deathandlifeinthevalley.blogspot.com/
Henry B 51 Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 The best John Williams comics there are.
Hitch 60 Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Yes, it's rare to find a true artist in here....apart from myself of course.
FattyMcButterpants 1 Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 That's not exactly true - don't underestimate the art of creating new complaints.
Nick Parker 3,049 Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 Wait, was I correct in placing this thread in the "Other Topics" Section?
Jacob 1 Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 The best John Williams comics there are.The only John Williams comics there are?
Nick Parker 3,049 Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 There are a few, but they all have the same problem.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,173 Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Wait, was I correct in placing this thread in the "Other Topics" Section?Yes.I disagree. This topic clearly concerns John Williams.
Red 75 Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 There are a few, but they all have the same problem. They're not done by Artyjeffery?I agree with Steef's disagreement.
Nick Parker 3,049 Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 I bet you could never guess what film I watched last night.... And the reason I asked was because king mark's thread was in the Main Section, was it not?
artyjeffrey 20 Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 Holy Crapamoli! You weren't kidding were you Nick? This is flattering. From now on, I'll post them here in this thread. Thanks for the compliments everyone! My wife once told me a story about how her grandfather would constantly berate his sons about reading MAD magazine. And then one day they heard him giggling in another room... and walked in on him reading their MADs. I have a feeling that, if JW has seen any of these, he's been diplomatic about it, and has called them "rascally." But behind closed doors, when no one is around, he's probably found them funny (the ones about Spielberg in particular).By the way, what are the specifics regarding the maximum size of image that can be posted in this thread? It would be good to know-- most of these cartoons were in actuality very tiny, as they were clandestinely scratched out at work (having them bigger wouldn't have helped any, but future ones...).It's great to have a forum where a.)people like us, who are followers of film music can get together, and where b.)a nutjob like me can make cartoons that can actually be understood! (If anyone out of the film score loop ever sees these little doodles, they always gesture "huh?").Like I said before, I'm currently trying to secure a new job, so there either won't be too many popping up right now, or they'll be A LOT more popping up right now!! It depends on how I deal with the stress!!P.S.-- and I promise to keep them as decent as possible!
Nick Parker 3,049 Posted November 16, 2008 Author Posted November 16, 2008 We understand. One cannot rush fine art, lest one wishes to end up with the music editing in "Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones". Regarding the size: I have no idea. Make them as large as you can. I want to see John Williams insult Media Ventures in glorious (insert largest file size). Oh, and of course I was not joking. Do I look like I am joking?
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 Okay we get that you weren't joking. It's kinda obvious when you're in the thread.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,173 Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 Maestro Jeffrey, Your comics are busting my gut. they are clever, funny, well drawn.Looking forward to more, but take your time with them, quality over quantity.BTW, whatever happened to the old Pukas comics posted on the FSM forum years ago?
Hitch 60 Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 The red scarf reminded me of the little girl in SCHINDLER'S LIST with the red coat
artyjeffrey 20 Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 The red scarf reminded me of the little girl in SCHINDLER'S LIST with the red coat Bingo! When I have poor taste, I really have poor taste.Steef- Thanks, I agree with quality over quantity. NICE AVATAR! Very holidayish, yet disturbing.
artyjeffrey 20 Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Another one from my workdesk, on the backside of a memo.
pixie_twinkle 60 Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Not quite the sticky I suggested last month, but it's good to see this genius finally gets his pedestal! Artyjeffrey deserves this.
indy4 160 Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 A John Williams joke would not be complete without a dig at his interesting turtleneck decision!
artyjeffrey 20 Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 A John Williams joke would not be complete without a dig at his interesting turtleneck decision!I imagine that Charlie Brown would have the same dilemma.
Nick Parker 3,049 Posted December 3, 2008 Author Posted December 3, 2008 I am sure Donald Duck takes a while to find the pair of pants he wants to wear, too.
Jacob 1 Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Yet he wears a towel when he steps out of the shower.
artyjeffrey 20 Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Yet he wears a towel when he steps out of the shower.Yeah. Yeah.....
artyjeffrey 20 Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 ...You know genetics weren't involved, right?
Nick Parker 3,049 Posted December 21, 2008 Author Posted December 21, 2008 I find that wonderfully hilarious.
artyjeffrey 20 Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 I find that wonderfully hilarious.Well, it can be looked at as another entry to be adopted into the Williams lore. Just think: you can sit your grandkids on your lap and tell them all about how John Williams went bald. What's weird is that JG had such a full head of hair...
Nick Parker 3,049 Posted December 21, 2008 Author Posted December 21, 2008 Do I sense the plot of a new cartoon? Tell me, artyjeffrey: have you considered making a full-length comic book adventure revolving around our young protagonist John Williams and his adventures? Just imagine: his arch nemesis could be Jerry Goldsmith, he could go on epic quests... it could work.
artyjeffrey 20 Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Nick, I'm already ahead of you on that one! I do have a little story coming up......lol
Nick Parker 3,049 Posted December 22, 2008 Author Posted December 22, 2008 Excellent....You could be famous yet, artyjeffrey. You and I, we could be big! Bigger than Charlie Chaplin and Alfred Hitchcock combined.
Nick Parker 3,049 Posted December 22, 2008 Author Posted December 22, 2008 Excellent, one more follower. All is going according to plan....
Jay 45,801 Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Jeffrey, where you inspired by the John Williams Air Force article from 1954?
artyjeffrey 20 Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Jeffrey, where you inspired by the John Williams Air Force article from 1954?Actually, yes. I saw that pic of him and said to myself, "My God, he had all of that hair...." Inspiration abounds.
Nick Parker 3,049 Posted December 22, 2008 Author Posted December 22, 2008 Yeah, I thought it was obvious because he was wearing his uniform....
Hitch 60 Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 His sense of humour is second only to my own, a Miss Moneypenny
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,173 Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Male pattern baldness is no laughing matter!
artyjeffrey 20 Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Male pattern baldness is no laughing matter!I'm losing my hair too, slowly ... okay let's try this one... from the old desk drawer...
