Was it just to be funny? It's unusual in his work, although there are other isolated instances in other scores: George's String Cluster, Wompi's Wrench, etc. No idea why there's so much of it in this score specifically, or why he went so zany with it. EDIT: It would be really funny if he did the first couple of these and then someone else joked, "Hey, where's my cue?", and then it just became a running gag. But that's pure speculation on my part. crumbs 12574
Not like we needed any more evidence about the ownership of these scores, but even the unreleased and unused inserts have reverted to Disney Music now: I never realised Room In Flames had 3 inserts May the Force be with You and Brando 1
Jay 30916
IIRC we don't know what they all are because the sheet music only leaked for one of them and none of them were used in the film. And when I say that, I mean who’s idea is it to ask JW to go re-record something else, either something stupid small(On the Tank 2nd insert(when Indy shoots 3 Nazis)versus a big insert(Imperial March section at the end of AOTC)). And I know every case is different, but is there a general reason why he’s asked to make inserts?

crumbs 12574
Yeah it would just be because Spielberg (or any other director, maybe even a high-ranking producer on certain films) had a certain musical approach in mind, and JW didn't deliver exactly what they wanted for that moment. Usually the majority of the cue still works and they just patch up the small section that doesn't land as intended. The ending of 6m2 Discussing the Book vs the revised insert is a perfect example of Spielberg and Williams having totally divergent musical interpretations for how to close that scene. I would say Williams was totally off the mark with that first approach, but for all we know he was told to score that moment dramatically/seriously by Spielberg during the spotting sessions (and they only realised it was the wrong approach after hearing it). Brando 856
That makes sense. I wonder if they give him a reason when they ask him. Kind of like how when they rearranged the ending of The Last Crusade, I think in the video on the dvd, George was the one saying they would edit it for the stronger section of the Raiders March as they exited the Canyon. Brando 856
I wasn't sure about this but I thought I'd ask. I started a project last week of making tracks based off of the Indy trailers, and one particular spot is giving me some trouble. Each trailer tends to use part of the Raiders March and a chunk of the Desert Chase. At the end of the Temple of Doom trailer, we hear the buildup as Indy forces the Jeep over the cliffside(from Desert Chase). As the trailer ends, there's a final bang and it fades out. My question is, does anyone recognize where it comes from? Its definitely not from that same section from Desert Chase. The beat I'm talking about is at about 1:17 in the video. Bellosh 1715
Dang that's a good catch @Brando My best guess is that it was simply an edit specifically by whomever made the trailer. Brando

I suspect they took one of the orchestral hits from 4:30-4:39 from Desert Chase (on the ost version- the truncated one) That’s my guess at least. orrrr maybe one of the stabbing horn blasts at 4:59? BTW- could you IMAGINE a franchise hero today with a teaser trailer with its last shot being a dude slowly catching on fire? I’d like to see Disney try THAT on Indy 5;) Brando

I’d like to see Disney try THAT on Indy 5;) I remember watching the trailer as a kid(was born in '99 but i think i first saw Doom when i was 7 or 8 and i knew then which one was my favorite), and the fact that it ends on a cliffhanger is wild. You don't see fire, so without any prior knowledge you're left to wonder why there's a guy in a cage being lowered into a mysterious cavern. It's such a great trailer because it leaves you wondering what the heck is going on. Short and sweet. 3 hours ago, Falco said: It almost sounds like the climax of Map Room Dawn That was my second guess as well. I think I've got it. Hayden Jonas 10
To those of you who also have a copy of the handwritten score of "The Last Crusade", I always wondered if its "normal" that the pages of the cues 10m3/11m1 "On the Tank" and 11m4/12m1 "Canyon of the Crescent Moon" are half blank? Popular Post schultz.kevin1972 16
Hi guys, forgive me if this was spoken of elsewhere, I searched and could not find anything. Just hit me that the Windows "Asterisk" sound (Windows 11 Pro, at least) sure sounds a hell of a lot like the opening to "Nocturnal Activities" from Temple of Doom. Pretty much the same key and tones. Am I crazy? I haven't broken it down or anything, but just from a casual listen, dang but they sounds alike. Temple of Doom: Windows 11 (should be around 1:03 mark): Anyway, I was amused. Carry on.
