Based on the clues provided and discussion amongst members here are the guesses:

BODY DOUBLE (1984) - Pino Donaggio

FIRES WITHIN (1991) - Maurice Jarre

PARASITE (1982) - Richard Band

I expect the usual suspects to chime in with *Yawns* as I predicted in another thread.

Edit:

And the releases are...

BODY DOUBLE (1984) - Pino Donaggio

FIRES WITHIN (1991) - Maurice Jarre

PARASITE (1982) - Richard Band

Totally expected since not all releases from these dedicated labels are great or famous scores, or Williams'.

I remind you that Bachelor flat got a few yawns too.

I'll dispense with the yawns. I might not be interested in any of these, but they mean that one day a smaller score I'd love to have complete will be released. I'm happy for those who enjoy these :)

And I yawned at Bachelor Flat... it doesn't matter for me who the composer is these days.

No it just shows ignorance and disrespect to the labels sometimes.

You really seem to be in the bill of these labels sometimes....

Its nice that they release old scores but most (80%?) of them are scores from movies that i (and many other people) dont know about and never been talked about here EVER.

Then when they are released it seems to be a holy grial. I dont buy it.

I know that i have complained about them releasing very little Williams works, and that is stupid, but also is feeling disrespectful for not being interested in every CD they release.

No offence, but maybe you should watch more movies?

Maybe instead of saying, "I've never heard that, I'm not interested" maybe you should say, "This could be interesting, let me look into it". The spoiled attitude of "I don't know it, I don't care" and "It's something not by my favorite composer" is getting old.

Did i say already that i was not really excited for Bachelor flat or how to steal a million?

Then I would say they fell into the "I don't know it, I don't care" category for you.

I have listened to How to steal a million several times.

I'm not super-interested in the same release with very few new material. I will get it someday i suppose.

You are right.

Anyhoo, I know we have quite a few members here who do appreciate a wide variety of film music so that's the purpose of these threads.

Outside of the world of John Williams these scores get discussed on the other film score message boards.

My main comments were directed at those who constantly ask what's next after every release and yet continue to roll their eyes when the next batch is announced.

It would be good if they were discussed here, to help us wide our tastes.

This board is lost.. dont try

That's obi wan material. You should be saying 'There is still good in it, i know there is...'

Let's see what they are first.

We usually do try and have discussions once they are releases or the discussions are contained within the last score purchased or listened to threads.

After all this is a Williams board and the majority of conversations should revolve around JW.

I try not to get to caught up in all the speculations since most of the time they end up not being correct. However for me I really appreciate the labels releasing all of these scores, even if there are a lot I'm not interested in but I still respect them for doing it. We've been really spoiled in the last few years by the labels.

Actually I did word it to where it sounds serious but I do expect a majority of the topics to center around Williams. But after awhile, when you've been around the boards for 12 years, you can only praise him so much.

Now folks these are just guesses based on clues so don't go thinking these are a 100% accurate. ;)

And when was the last time you were wrong?;)

Nothing to interest me in this batch either if it's accurate. I have a very limited CD budget and have to live within my means so I concentrate on getting the scores and composers I like (Not that I don't take chances. I've bought several Goldsmiths, and Images, on faith and recommendations and never been disappointed).

But you will never see me disparage releases like this, I know that sooner or later something I really want will come out, just like they have before. It's great that these lesser known scores are getting released for those who want them.

You know what really pisses me off about Intrada? All those damn exclamation marks! They put on after every single CD description, it gets old after a while.

I've never interpreted the *yawns* as a sign of disrespect, but rather a fanciful way to saying "I'll pass." Of course I'm very pleased for those that are delighted by these releases, and I feel nothing but deep gratitude towards those at Intrada (I now own 6 of their products). Digs at Intrada or other labels, regarding their output, are completely unwarranted, however.

No it just shows ignorance and disrespect to the labels sometimes.

What does ignorance have to do with it? If someone doesn't like a score, that's their business.

Personally, if it's any of these I'll roll my eyes, HOWEVER, I'll never wish that a CD wasn't released, for the same reason others have stated here: It means maybe one day something I like will be released.

I can't believe the arrogance I see sometimes. I judge a score on two qaulifications:

1. Do the sounds clips impress me?

2. Is it from a composer whom hasn't disappointed me at nearly every turn?

Who cares if it's not a name film or something often requested like BTTF. As long as the score is good, that's what really counts.

One of these releases has liner notes by yours truly ... thus making it relevant for John Williams fans everywhere!

:P

Someone, who posted above you, thinks that means it's a Williams related score. :)

These releases are terrible. They could be giving us things that film score fans actually WANT, like Back to the Future and Spartacus. Instead, they waste everyone's time on piss poor composers no one has actually heard of. Intrada is clearly a shabby, third-rate operation.

OK, I really need to invest in a reinforced, shatterproof and blastproof sarcasm detector. I'm sick of them blowing up every time a big spike hits it.

Surprise, surprise.. I ordered all three of them. In this day and age when our favorite composers; no longer release albums, very rarely release albums, release sub-standard albums, or are dead, I am pleased to be introduced to new and exciting music. I am happy for Intrada and their releases. Rarely am I disappointed with their releases. Sure, some can be lack-luster, but once I get to listen to them, rarely have I wished I hadn't bought it.

Now that the title has been announced, I wrote the notes for "Fires Within." It's a fine score ... Jarre fans should be pleased!

Cool!

Hey John, do you think you could give us some inside into how these CD releases come about? Like, how long ago did Intrada decide to do it, at what point did they approach you to write the notes, how long did you have to write them, was the CD content already "locked" when you began writing, stuff like that?

I don't feel it's my place to go into too much detail on any specific release. I'm just a hired gun, not a mover and shaker ... which also means I generally have little idea at what point projects were conceived or how long they have been in development (I think it's a matter of months for most of them -- perhaps years for major stuff like Alien -- but this is only conjecture). As a member of Intrada's rotating stable of liner notes writers for about a year now, I get approached via e-mail at the discretion of the editor. How long I have to work depends on numerous factors. As with any label, many projects are in the air at any given time ... schedules sometimes get shaken up and projects are pushed to the fore with little advance notice. Others get delayed. I can say that I've never been asked to complete a project in less than 7-10 days. Sometimes the CD is locked, sometimes it isn't. I've also learned that to have a physical copy of the disc well in advance of starting work is something of a luxury in this business.

In any event, I have nothing but kind words for the folks at Intrada ... they're talented, passionate people, and it's wonderful to be on board even in a limited capacity.

Unlike those stinkers at FSM! :P
