I just saw the Boston Pops and the Tanglewood Choir perform

And it was pretty awesome. I know many here dislike the Pops, but they really had a great performance.

I heard:

Home Alone Suite (Making the Plane, Merry Christmas Merry Christmas, Somewhere in my Memory)

Sleigh Ride

Waltz of the Flowers

White Christmas

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

+ lots of traditional Christmas music

But for me, the highlight was Polar Express. An actor (who I had never heard of) narrated the book, while the Pops played Silvestri's music from the film, and on a projector in the background, illustrations from the picture book.

It was a great night.

Yeah, they've been playing the same exact program for 3 weeks now. Last night's was the best performance so far (it needed to be after playing the same music so many times). Polar Express was cool, but for me the best is Home Alone (too bad they didn't perform Star of Bethlehem).

Another thing I forgot to mention was a piece entitled (I think) "Child's Play," which played with the melody of "What Child Is This," and was written by the 1st Hornist in the Boston Pops.

They did "Home Alone"???

Darn! I wanted to go this year but decided not too because I didn't see it in the program.

I wish the Pops would release their complete programs ahead of time so I know whether to go or not. So many times I decided not to go because I wasn't interested in what was advertised but there was unannounced stuff played that I missed, and others where I went to their concert and was severely let down.
