John Crichton 4
vs. ET vs. Harry Potter. David vs. Goliath? A Window to the Past has had surprising support making it this far.1st round polls will be open for 5 days, with voting ending on Friday evening (my time). indy4 152
Prisoner of Azkaban is the better score, but I vote for "Flying Theme." "Window to the Past" is good, but one of the weaker parts of PoA.Keep 'em coming!
King Mark 2,924
I love the score to E.T. despite not loving The Flying Theme. The concert version of A Window to the Past is superb (the one not on the OST)
John Crichton 4
"Window to the Past" is good, but one of the weaker parts of PoA.I think it's the strongest part, it gets such great development. Unlike Double Trouble, which just vanishes.
indy4 152
Double Trouble is the most used theme in the score.
John Crichton 4
And from just before the midpoint of the film until the end credits it gets nary a statement, like it never existed.
King Mark 2,924
both PoA themes suffer that Williams wrote the finalized concert version AFTER the OST was released...

Docteur Qui 1,248
Prisoner of Azkaban is the better score, but I vote for "Flying Theme." "Window to the Past" is good, but one of the weaker parts of PoA.Keep 'em coming!Wow, really? i couldn't disagree more. It's what took that score from "fantastic" to "a modern masterpiece" for me. That theme, and its various developments, captures the longing and pain of loss that Harry feels for his family. It's the musical definition of nostalgia. King Mark 2,924
too bad in the film the music is mixed so low you can barely hear it.
Docteur Qui 1,248
It's not as bad as Chamber of Secrets.Besides, it doesn't need to be mixed loudly. It's a quiet theme, written for quiet moments. It's all about atmosphere, not letting the music take over. It takes centre stage at Sirius' departure though, which is the most important statement. John Crichton 4
When the Past theme is combined with the Patronus choral motif...pure magic. Possibly the best musical moments in all of Potter, and I like SS more than PoA as a whole.

Nick Parker 3,017
Now which theme is the "Flying Theme"? Would that be the theme used in "The Magic of Halloween", or it would be that one theme that starts "Bait for E.T." and "End Credits"? Wow, I just had the strongest urge to listen to the album now....
indy4 152
It's the one heard when Elliot's bike goes off the cliff in "E.T.'s Halloween"/"The Magic of Halloween."
Nick Parker 3,017
That is what I thought, and thank you for answering. Now, this may seem a bit off-topic, but is there some sort of "ETMusic.com" or something that gives a detailed analysis on the themes of "E.T."?EDIT: Oh, and I voted for "Flying Theme", by the way. Were I to listen to more than just samples of "Window to the Past", I might have changed my vote, but "Flying Theme" is just way too awe-inspiring for me not to vote for it. Red 73
The Flying theme from E.T. A Window to the Past is, like the rest of the score, incredible but it can't quite match the power of the flying theme. Few can.

Gruesome Son of a Bitch 6,476
oh that one... I meant when Harry repels the fake dementor in Lupin's Chest .That's THE one. That's the best moment from the entire POA score. There is no comparison to the dementor scene at the end.I went with the "Flying Theme". My favorite statement is when E.T. revives the plant. Sergeant 1,093
A Window to the PastI think Flying theme is more important for the film it's composed and definitely used wisely and respectfully.Musically A Window to the Past is more brilliant for me but sadly ruined in the film because it's effing too soft as therest of that masterful score. Diego 21
Neither were on my list, but I don't really like Window to the Past all that much, so I'll go with E.T. which is great and all, although sometimes I think it sounds a bit too much like Luke's theme, there's a rendition on "Sending the Signal" were it really sounds like it's going to be Luke's theme instead.
