Pieter Boelen 633
Every few days I will post a thread on a random score from my collection that we can discuss and rate. I made a playlist on my computer with one track of each score I've got, so by using the random play option, I'll be able to post a truly random score each time. Hopefully this will allow us to discuss some scores that would otherwise never be discussed. Also we can record the rating so that we can create a full list of the ratings given to scores by JWFan.com.Today's score is Moby Dick by Christopher Gordon. Are you familiar with it? What do you like about it? What don't you like about it? How do do you think it works in the film? What are your favourite tracks? So far JWFan has rated:See Soundtrack Ratings by JWFan.com.This web page contains the ratings from all my previous polls as well as those of Blumenkohl's.Final ratings are converted to a 1-10 rating for both rating systems so that they can be compared. Williamsfan301 11
If this is the score to the Patrick Stewart as Ahab one, eh. Not all that great to me.HOWEVER, look up a work called "Of Sailors and Whales." It's based on Moby Dick. Unbelievably good. I've conducted it twice and played it twice. It's just fantastic. Marian Schedenig 5,520
5 stars. Brilliant. Some of the best seafaring music I've heard, and plenty of drama too.

Marian Schedenig 5,520
How can anyone give this a single star?
Pieter Boelen 633
I'm wondering the same thing. I keep seeing 1-star votes for scores that do not deserve quite THAT low a rating, whichever way you put it.Either some people are overly critical, or they're messing up the polls on purpose.Indeed this is the Patrick Stewart as Ahab Moby Dick. As far as I'm concerned, the music is pretty good. It's certainly sounds like seafaring music, though it isn't quite as good as Cutthroat Island is.Still, a solid 4,5 stars from me! Ollie 859
No Pieter there are just people who have weird tastes. This is one of the few I have to vote "I'm not familiar with it". I did watch the mini-series and do remember the music catching my attention but not enough to give a true rating.
Pieter Boelen 633
No Pieter there are just people who have weird tastes.I suppose so. However, even if music is not to your taste, you can still give at least a couple of stars for the skill/quality displayed, even if you personally don't care much for it. tjguitar 0
I'm unfamiliar with it, it's out of print, but I have a track from one of the Varese Sarabande 25th Anniversary collections and find it enjoyable.
