publicist 4,484
I'm following an eBay auction for the old MCA LP of 'Darcula'. Supposedly it got better sound than the Varése edition. Can anyone confirm this? Or was it the japanese edition?
Naïve Old Fart 6,637
I'm following an eBay auction for the old MCA LP of 'Darcula'. Supposedly it got better sound than the Varése edition. Can anyone confirm this? Or was it the japanese edition? The Sarabande edition is rather terrible, which is a shame since their re-releases of "Earthquake", and "The River", which came out at about the same time, both sound really nice. I purchased the MCA L.P. in 1979, and, to be honest with you, it doesn't sound much better. The only thing that could make it "sound" as if it sounds better (if you get my meaning) is the fact that the L.P. had a rather compressed sound, thus making it sound arguablly brighter. If you have the C.D., then save your money; if you want it for completion's sake, then by all means get it-I would. Personally have never seen a Japanese edition of "Dracula" on either vinyl, or C.D. The only track, to my knowledge, that exists on C.D. is either the Main Title/Storm Sequence, or The Love Theme, which is on the Japanese version of "Filmworks". This edition also contans both "Midway March", and "Men Of The 'Yorktown' March". Happy hunting!
