Quintus 5,391
Both scores are a long way off and both are most certainly highly anticipated, but which do you want more?I want Shore's Hobbit more than I do JW's Tintin.
Wojo 2,442
You're yelling movie in a crowded fire station, but I'll bite. The Hobbit, hands down.
Quintus 5,391
Well one thing's gotta be certain: Howard Shore will be more eager and hungry to do The Hobbit than Williams will be to score a Tintin movie. And you know what that normally means, especially where JW is concerned.
Ollie 859
Since I kinda know what Shore's music may sound like, after 12 hours of LOTR music, I'm gonna go with Williams on this one.
ChrisAfonso 159
I'm looking forward more to Shore's Hobbit, but I'm more curious how Williams's Tintin will turn out.

pixie_twinkle 44
I am certainly interested in The Hobbit, but I have very little regard for Howard Shore's music so I'm going to have to go with Tintin on this one. I'm actually quite excited to hear Johnny having fun with an animated feature.

pixie_twinkle 44
As it's something he hasn't really done before I think he'll have a blast with it (not counting Mr DNA from JP or the opening titles from Catch Me if You Can). Quite honestly I'd be surprised if he doesn't approach this as a challenge, and a fun one.
Charlie Brigden 5
I'm half and half, but I'll go for John. I'm eager to see what Shore does to match Del Toro's visions, but like Mark says, you kind of know what to expect. And I'm dying to see if John can pull off something magical again after the relative disappointment of KOTCS.
ChuckM 1
Based on Williams recent attempts, I'll have to go with The Hobbit.Although I'm looking forward to Giacchino's Star Trek, and Powell's Dawn of the Dinosaurs WAY more than either option. Jay 27,216
Wow, great topic!I honestly can't decide!I love the LOTR scores, but feel they are at their best when they are more optimistic and adventure-y, and less omnipresent and dour. Since The Hobbit is a far, far lighter story than LOTR is, I really expect the Hobbit's score to be a lot more fun than LOTR's, while still being in the same style.ON the other hand, this is John freaking Williams scoring a full-on, fun adventure, ANIMATED movie.... I agree that he will take it as a challenge, and wouldn't be surprised if he totally knocks it way out of the park. I am thinking like Harry Potter but even more fun and magical.Yup, can't decide. I want them both <_<
ChuckM 1
Hmm, now I somehow hadn't caught before that Tintin was going to be animated. This will be interesting to see how Williams does.Is it CG or tradition animation?

Richard Penna 2,082
Depends really on what type of approach Williams takes... pastiche, modern, or a KotCS type attempt to be both.I'm going for The Hobbit. I can't pin down the reasons, but if I had both scores sitting in front of me, I would go for Shore's first.Plus I think we all know which album would be better constructed... JoeinAR 1,759
well since the 3 Lord of the Rings collectively had only one score, I'd say we've heard it.So John wins easily.
Maestro 57
John Williams, of course! I'm not as brazenly optimistic as I was in the months leading up to Crystal Skull, but I'd dare say it will have at the very least a few stellar moments...and hopefully at best be a knockout score. I'd just like to make it that long. The Mayan calendar doesn't end until 2012. We're good.Right now I say The Hobbit by a nose, but that could easily change as we get closer. I just hope we get a new Williams score before then.
Wojo 2,442
Why ask?Because about half of the voters so far are indeed looking forward to The Hobbit more.Unbelievable No, your incredulity is what's unbelievable. It's a John Williams fan site, not a John Williams fanaticism, John Williams idol worship, or John Williams brainwashing site. For the record, I also have no interest at all in this Tintin movie, either.

Pieter Boelen 633
Is there some official confirmation somewhere that John Williams WILL score Tintin?I haven't got a CLUE what that movie is going to look like or what the score's going to sound like, so it's going to be a tremendous surprise. On the other hand with The Hobbit we know pretty much what we're going to get.Though perhaps Howard Shore will surprise us to.No idea what to vote for. I'll probably like Tintin better if it's to be a good fun score.I never cared too much about all the Lord of the Rings music, though it IS indeed very good.
