Ollie 859
No that's the album order minus the songs and the Concerto piece.
Maxxie 1
I'd choose the older stuff, purely for the actual themes. Indiana Jones, E.T., Jurassic Park, Home Alone, Hook, Superman etc etc.
MSM 85
I think I may agree with you on that, KM. Having trouble thinking of any other scores from that middle period that I really like.Really? It's certainly his best period orchestration-wise. Maybe you guys should relisten Always, Stanley and Iris, Far and Away and Empire of the Sun. Chris ChrusherComix 27
Like a few posted - what is the line between newer and older? I consider each decade an era, and I love music from each and every decade, so it's a tough one. I've always thought his best era was 1977-1983, as the original SW trilogy and all of the scores in between were unbelievable. But, again, I like some of the '60s stuff (though not as much because there's less of it), love some '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s... so which is new and old? By default, I considered splitting his career in half, and went with older stuff. If you look at my favorite Williams scores, they are sprinkled in every era, so, again, hard to choose. pixie_twinkle 44
Older. If I were to specify years I'd say everything up to 1993 or so. He's done some wonderful stuff since then, but more and more I'm finding myself disappointed by new Williams scores. Something that never happened before. Unlucky Bastard 7,765
I consider about 1990 to be the line.
Nick Parker 3,017
I was thinking more along the lines of 2009....
MSM 85
I'm getting into JFK more. It's too bad half the OST is source cues. There is not much more score beyond what is on the OST. A few significant cues. Half of the source cues on that album are expendable but the other half complements the listening experience in my opinion. El Watusi is of course the worst diegetic/source cue on any JW album.Oh and to answer your question Quint, I can't really choose between old and new as they are both equal to my ears in different ways.I re-discovered JFK, and I think it is great. You can clearly hear Jurassic Park coming up in the next years in tracks like The Conspirators (Dennis Steals the Embryos) and The Death Of David Ferrie (Mining for Amber and Bones) and even in source cues like Ode To Buckwheat (Jurassic Park Gate).
