The Grand National at Aintree

Recommended Posts

Saturday 4th April 2009 sees the running of arguably the world's greatest steeplechase, the Grand National. I haven't backed the winner since the epic race of 2001, when Red Marauder trudged home in the Aintree mud after almost all the other horses had fallen or pulled up.

You can be as scientific as you like, but the favourite is just as likely to fall at the first as it is to last the distance, so I figured I might just as well ask a group of complete strangers from across the world to pick a horse or two for me. I usually back about four, so try and persuade me which horses to waste my money on! Click here for a list of the runners.

Damien - off to Coral tomorrow morning laden with his hard-earned cash.

:P

Incidentally, Aintree Racecourse is less than ten miles away from me, yet I've never been.

Aha, so what's the going like in that neck of the woods, Quint? Should I be picking a mudlark or a nag that likes it firm (if you pardon my French)?

Rambling Minister and Darkness are the two coolest names I saw. Flip a coin.

Actually Rambling Minster is one of the favourites, but I can't help thinking Darkness will fall ( ). But yes, they are cool names, so zey vill go on ze list!
