Upcoming Soundtracks

I believe Lukas said it was going to be a "Real Holy Grail". It's been released before but FSM is going to pay the re-use fees, add more music, and make it unlimited.

It's definately going to be a big one, then.

Sounds like it will fit the quality of the film quite nicely.

;)

To be serious, I do hear a Sergeant Bilko vibe (not surprising really).

For those would want a new Williams/Columbus collaboration... sad news: Christophe Beck in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief

And Clash of the Titans was with Craig Armstrong! Maybe he uses Lawrence Rosenthal theme.

I liked Armstrong's work on The Incredible Hulk so maybe I'll check it out. As for Beck, now I officially have no interest in that film.

Silvestri seems to be getting worse and worse these days.

He certainly seems to be on autopilot for his last few scores. Wouldn't say this sound bad, just very formulaic, like he's not really trying. Heck, I predicted the second bar in that string-based clip. I nearly hummed it before it happened.

Sounds a bit like Hooper on a really good day actually.

Well at least Silvestri is better than Hooper and can turn out a score much better than Hooper can any day of the week. I just listened to those sound clips for G.I. Joe, sounds pretty good. "Delivering The Warheads" almost sounded like "March Of The Lava" from Volcano.

Really interesting soundtrack... It's a shame that Morricone couldn't score this film, because of "Baaria", but the trailer music of that film (Baaria) sounds so perfect that it could be another Morricone masterpiece. I hope that score gives him the real Oscar he deserves.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but Hans Zimmer will score Christopher Nolan's Inception and Brian Eno will score Peter Jackson's Lovely Bones

Tarantino was going to wait for Morricone's schedule to open up, but Harvey Weinstein was pushing for a summer release so he had to use pre-existing music.

Eno? That's interesting.

I thought that'd been announced ages ago. But this looks like a more reflective family drama sort of thing. Not sure Howard Shore would've been at home with this one.

Perhaps there will be 2 editions, like with Pulp Fiction. Although the Pulp Fiction one came out with the new DVD release.

The Cannes website released the complete soundtrack list and it contains 21 tracks. Perhaps it's better for me with the 14-track version, because it omits a lot of the Morricone, which I already have.

When I search for "Inglourious Basterds", this thread comes up the most. So I'm putting my question here.

Do I read the IMDb correctly that the music playing when the

Jewish family hidden by the LaPardites are murdered

(the intense cue with choir that's missing from the soundtrack album) is Morricone's L'incontro Con La Figlia? Am I further correct in reading SoundtrackCollector that this cue is from A Gun for Ringo, The Return of Ringo or Death Rides? And if so, is this a good release to buy?

I recommend getting the GDM releases of Una Pistola Per Ringo / Il Ritorno Di Ringo and Da Uomo A Uomo. Although that one cue you are looking for is not on the GDM release for some reason. It's also probably a lot more expensive getting them separately.

Ramin Djawadi's score to the Clash Of The Titans remake is available to preview & pre-order on iTunes.

I'm won't waste my time giving a review of what I've heard so far.

And Twilight: The New Moon is composed by Alexandre Desplat and not Carter Burwell.

Classy Silva Screen production. :(

John Debney has posted via Twitter that the likely release date for the Iron Man 2 score is July 7. I wonder if the delay is because they decided to go ahead and release the complete score?

That's possible. I think it's cool that they're doing a 2-CD set of it. I'll be buying it for sure. From the sound samples Debney's score is definitely light years better than what Djawadi for the first one.
