Hannibal

I watched the movie Hannibal last night and realised some of the music heard in this film is also in Kingdom of Heaven. It is heard a couple of times during Hannibal, once at an concert/opera and again just after where Insp Renaldo Pazzi is shown the reward for finding Lector. Does anyone know the name of this music and is it an opera?

I may be wrong, since I haven't seen it for a long time, but I suppose you refer to Vide Cor Meum by Patrick Cassidy. It's was written for Hannibal soundtrack and it also was tracked in Kingdom of Heaven.

Yes exactly. The Vide Cor Meum was written for the opera scene and Scott tracked it to the coronation scene in Kingdom of Heaven.

I seem to remember that Patrick Cassidy thought of writing an entire opera based on Dante's "La Vita Nuova" which provided the libretto for Vide Cor Meum. I could be wrong though.

On Patrick's official website, we can read: The soundtrack to Hannibal features Patrick's aria "Vide Cor Meum". This mini-opera, specially composed for the movie, was chosen to be performed at the Oscar's in 2002 during the presentation of a lifetime achievement award to producer Dino De Laurentiis. It was also performed at the 53rd Annual Emmy awards.

So, is Vide cor meum only an aria, or is it already supposed to be a mini-opera in itself? :D

And thinking of her

Sweet sleep overcame me

I am your master

See your heart

And of this burning heart

Your heart

(Chorus: She trembling)

Obediently eats (with some fava beans and a nice Chianti...sfsfsfsf).

Weeping, I saw him then depart from me.

Joy is converted

To bitterest tears

I am in peace

My heart

I am in peace

See my heart
