I know this is a very short notice and tough chance, but just in case anybody is in or near Ljubljana, Slovenia tonight, he definitely should come to a fantastic film music concert in the Gallus Hall of Cankarjev dom (more info about the venue here). The programme will be as follows:

John Williams: Main Title from Star Wars

John Williams: Suite from Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

John Williams: Three pieces for violin and orchestra from Schindler's List (Main Theme, Jewish Town (Krakow, the Winter of 1941), Remembrances)

Jani Golob: Music from TV series Čisto pravi gusar for the orchestra

Christopher Gunning: Poirot Fantasy for saxophone and orchestra

Christopher Gunning: La mome Piaf, music from La Vie en Rose for accordion and orchestra

John Corigliano: Chaconne for violin and orchestra from The Red Violin

Monty Norman/Calvin Custer: The James Bond Theme

Calvin Custer: Suite from Star Trek movies

Lalo Schifrin: Mission Impossible Theme

Elmer Bernstein: Music from The Magnificent Seven

John Williams: Main Title March from Superman

The concert will be performed by Slovenian RTV Symphony Orchestra. I have the ticket already, needless to say. ;) ;)

The programme looks really good and has a great and somewhat atypical middle section. I just love Christopher Gunning's Poirot scores and the Fantasy for saxophone and orchestra might be interesting indeed. That composer is seriously underpresented on CD in general.

Corigliano's Chaconne is just wonderful as well.

Yes, I've also always loved Gunning's Agatha Christie's Poirot music and always wanted to hear it being performed live, as the chances for that are extremely scarce, so I'm really looking forward to this. ;) Another gem would be to hear some Parker's Midsomer Murders stuff, but maybe next time. (Sometime ago, I actually made an arrangement of Agnus Dei cue for string orchestra and two sopranos, which was then actually performed by the symphony orchestra I play in.)

But most of all, I'm looking foward to JW stuff, of course. ;)

That goes without saying if there is any JW music in the programme ;)
