I LOVED the Armageddon score back in the day.  Haven't listened to it in a while though

I wonder if that will ever get a 2CD complete release.

Deep Impact is great for insomnia.

Hopefully it is Apollo 13, the original album was annoying, with the dialogue and songs you can buy elsewhere.

I can retire my copy of the FYI album.

Apollo 13 would be fantastic. Still one of my favourite Horner scores.

Next week we’re back on course with our newest soundtrack CD release. More accurately, it’s a 2-CD set to a terrific score by an Oscar winning composer. In fact, the score itself was an Oscar nominee. Artwork, contents and sound samples will be available here to peruse this coming Monday. The release will be available on Tuesday, January 15.

That's Apollo 13 alright.

I guess this settles it. Apollo 13 is a 2 CD set.

Lately there's a been a lot of people posting "news" who clearly didn't bother to look in the thread that they are posting it into to notice it's already being discussed.

I don't remember this happening much in the past.

What changed?

I've never been a fan of this score. Every time I see the film, I notice some nice bits, lots of overly schmaltzy cliche bits, bits that sound a bit like Sneakers but not as good, and not much else. But I've never had it on CD in any form, so I might give the new release a chance.

I happen to love this score a great deal, and have a copy of the Promo digitally, so this is a must buy.

The one thing that caught my eye was that this will be 2 CDs.

Perhaps the score on one disk, plus the promo on another?

It's more likely it will be the original album. Which means there will be no room for any alternates (it was about 72 minutes running time). But maybe I'm wrong.

It was my first Horner album and still one of my favourites. Not the most sophisticated or complex of his scores perhaps but really memorable and enjoyable.

Probably to expensive, with all the songs.

I think sometimes the record label might demand the OST to be included. But, of course, I'd prefer an second disc to contain extra material. I'm not entirely sure there is any here. The complete score cocks at about 75 minutes (or thereabout).

I doubt if it will have the OST Program replicated here because of the dialogue and songs which would be a licensing nightmare for Intrada. It could be more like the THE ROCKETEER sound mix treatment. The Film mix on disc 1 (and this time with Alternates and bonus cues) and the FYC Promo presentation on disc 2 as alluded to by OneBuckFilms in a few posts above. So let's see..

list of titles

Splash - too long since I've seen it so I don't remember

Cocoon - I love this film. It's simple, it's funny, and a bit of adventure.

Willow - Do not like...I mean I just don't get it. Really.

Parenthood - Don't remember ever seeing it.

Backdraft - Haven't seen it...you know there's a sort-of sequel happening?

The Paper - Saw it once in high school for English class or something.

Apollo 13 - His best film.

Ransom - I love this movie. Yeah. I do. Gibson's great, Sinise is great, and it's definitely the darkest film Howard had made up to that point.

EDTV - Haven't seen it.

Grinch - Not bad, not good. The image sucks though. Why all the atmospheric haze ?

Beautiful Mind - Akiva Goldsman's redemption for the utter shite of Batman and Robin. I like how they presented Nash's story as a suspense of his own concoction. The Nash couple and James Horner all died within a month of each other. Nash couple in a car crash. Horner in a plane crash.

The Missing - Can be suspense-filled, can be dull. Great score though. The Brujo villain is nasty.

Cinderella Man - Haven't seen it...eventually I will.

Da Vinci Code - Haven't seen - no interest.

Frost/Nixon - Haven't seen - no interest.

Angels & Demons - Haven't seen - no interest.

The Dilemma - Haven't seen - no interest.

Rush - Haven't seen - maybe one day.

In The Heart of the Sea - Haven't seen - maybe one day.

Inferno - Haven't seen - no interest.

Solo: A Star Wars Story - better than I expected.

But you didn't like A Beautiful Mind?

I saw it once in the theaters 17 years ago.  I don't remember too many details about it.  I remember liking it.

I also saw it when it came out and haven't seen it since. I remember I didn't know anything about Nash beforehand, so a large part of the film I thought he actually had been working with the secret government stuff that turned out to be delusions.
