I read the first line of this before I noticed the second line, and immediately thought about how anyone could think Les Mis didn't need expanding.

Many fans have complained about.the formatting of the ost, I.e. the suites.

Do the complaints also extend to unreleased music?

I'm not knowledgeable enough to comment on unreleased music.

It's a terrific score!

From the remaining composers list check out which title could be associated with "Tour De Force" and you will guess the title correctly.

I have a good guess and it's also got a 4K Blu ray release as well recently.

If it's a Williams release then 12.

For Goldsmith or Horner that's a 1 (possibly 3 or 12 for some of them) and if it's Brazil from Michael Kamen that's also a 12.

For other I'll add a 13 option that's missing IMO: "Intrigued and waiting for some samples"

I’ll believe it’s Willow when I see it.

well, hear it.

I also doubt it, since today is already his 7th Death Anniversary and it would be in bad taste to release this so soon. An ideal time for any new Horner release would be August when we celeberate his birthday !

The Jay Chattaway probably isn't Silver Bullet, but I'd be excited by that.

if Varese doesn’t hold it in perpetuity of course, I wonder if Intrada might expand it! The last CD edition Varese put out was just the original program.

My gut feeling tells me it's finally Willow. For many, it will be the "release of the year". Plus, the original album was "long enough" for many. Since you would need 2 discs for the complete score, they wouldn't include the OST.

Coincidence? I think not.

Told you so!

Looking forward to Shock Treatment being re-released as part of LLL's Goldsmith at 20th series.

That would be cool.

I missed out on this and had to buy from secondary market.

Fortunately the seller had it reasonably priced- slightly above list- as EBAY/ DISCOGS were $50 and up!

Btw

Looking at that picture, what stands out is the variety of styles:

War

Drama

Adventure

Science fiction

Westerns

Thrillers

No one else did it all, not even JW( imho he never wrote a great Western score).😄

SHOCK TREATMENT is the ONLY Goldsmith score I have where I never saw the film!

How come? You bought it based on sound clips alone? :o   ;)

I forgot COWBOYS!

I had the cues from SHOCK in the FOX BOX so I was familiar with it before the discreet release.

Do you typically not care about scores to films you haven't seen, or have you actually just seen that many Goldsmith-scored films?

(Any interest in seeing Shock Treatment since you like the score so much?)

I've certainly heard scores before seeing the film ( e.g. LEGEND).

But, I'm a must- see -the-film score fan.

Its mandatory.

I looked for ST without success.

Do you have info?

Roger Feigelson writes:

While it's too soon to reveal the albums, here's some info: 2 albums, 1 film, 2 composers, 3 discs.

From the Intrada titles that Roger Fiegelson had announced earlier this year for this years agenda:

James Horner:   48 HRS.
Jerry Goldsmith: BLACK PATCH/THE MAN
James Horner:     ANOTHER 48 HRS.
Michael Kamen
Basil Poledouris
James Horner:      JUMANJI
Miklos Rozsa:        DEAD MEN DON'T WEAR PLAID
John Williams:        SPACE CAMP
Alan Silvestri :        CATS EYE
Henry Mancini
Jay Chattaway

It could be made into 2 composer combination from these:
Michael Kamen, Basil Poledouris, Henry Mancini, Jay Chattaway.

My guess:

1) Henry Mancini and Michael Kamen….(This could be 2CD)

2) Non Film Project…..(??) TV could it be some Jay Chattaway then..? Or Michael Kamen again…

Yeah, a new version of Lifeforce could work.  3rd CD would original album.

We’ll see.  Only 28 days, or so, to wait.

Would they be able to while the BSX release is still in print (assuming "out of stock" just means that)? At the very least, a third disc would be overkill if they could fit it on 2 just fine. Also, I just would've bought it very recently, so I'd be slightly peeved (though ultimately glad) that a better version came out soon afterwards. :P

It'd be great if this could lead to a Molly Maguires reprint, but Charles Strouse isn't on the list, and that wasn't a long enough for even a 2nd disc!

Its TWO Albums. One of them is a film score. LIFEFORCE already has the OST program on disc 2! So there is no need for disc 3. The film just came out on 4K blu ray

but 2 composers! it could be Mancini & Kamen.  The Non-Film album which is implied could be the 3rd disc -could be Kamen related as well. (ie. if we remain within the 2 composers equation) Im thinking along those lines that it could be some Electric Guitar Concerto by Kamen with Eric Clapton?

There's certainly plenty of precedent for releasing an official and a rejected score together.  The Man Who Loved Cat Dancing and The River Wild spring to mind, among others I'm sure.

Sure, but separately at once? Why not as one release?

Maybe it's a score and a rerecording reissue like Julius Caesar?

From http://rejectedfilmscores.125mb.com/list.html

Quote
  1. +THE PATRIOT --  David Arnold.  Arnold wrote & recorded hand full of original demos with a real, full orchestra (on top of writing a full score).  Arnold was hired early on, as one of the producers (Dean Devlin) had wanted to work on a project with him again.  Arnold says, in a 2001 interview with Soundtrack! magazine that budgetary problems from going over budget, started to lead to some uneasiness and he was asked if he still wanted to do it and eventually was asked to submit demos first (which had not previously happened in their collaborations).  Meanwhile one of the other producers whom had worked with Williams, was telling everybody they could get Williams and the studio put out calls to Williams and Horner.  Arnodl says he sent them the demo and almsot immediately that day, they came back and said it wasn't working out and that they were getting Williams; Arnold speculates there must have been more going on behind the scenes for this to have happened so quickly.  He also said the demo he sent, was one of the best thigns he had ever done, though he didn't feel insulted Williams was the final composer.  INFO (coming).  [Harold Kloser.]
  2.  THE PATRIOT --  Harold Kloser.  In an interview he said he did some, but Roland didn't like them.  [John Williams - CD.]

Damn I need that lottery win.

If I win the lottery I'll see what I can do for you.

EDIT: After I arrange my live to projection concerts of the Star Wars OT WITHOUT dialog or sound FX. To the original versions. It's not world peace, but it's close, right?

I interpret the clue to mean they're releasing two albums for the same film, a rejected score album and a separate album for the used score. One is 2-CD, one is 1-CD.

That's how I interpreted it too.

3 hours ago, Jay said:

I have no idea if any of those remaining composers from his old  composer list have any known rejected scores.

(I'm not sure whether this is the original recording, which was released as a DVD extra over the main titles, or whether someone took Mancini's later re-recording of the MT and put it over the film...)

Ahhh, I misunderstood.  Yes, I agree that's a bit weird.

Maybe it's a matter of marketing.

They don't think folks would want one.three CD package.

This sounds like something like BTTF.

One album is the ost.

The other the original Intrada two CD release

Sure sounds like a score/ song album package

Would MULAN need two discs for the score.

The promo was one disc

But that only has one score, by one composer. Surely they wouldn't count the songs as a separate score, and I also doubt there'd be enough of them (even with pop versions and stuff) to properly fill a standalone album.

Wild hunch, but we may be looking at Something Wicked This Way Comes.

1. The George Delerue rejected score (released before)

2. The James Horner complete score

3. The James Horner score album previously released

If so, this would be quite interesting.

I was thinking about this too - it would be very welcome!
