From the picture of the back I suspect you only did the front(s), but even that's progress. Didn't you also do those Herrmann rerecordings or am I misremembering?

Intrada's next title is a reissue of Angelo Badalamenti's The Straight Story, up for order this Monday evening

So, a straight reissue?

I'm totally unfamiliar. Is this the first time Intrada has released a Badalamenti score?

I think it is!  As far as I know (beyond Lynch’s own Twin Peaks vol 2 and archive releases), the only times labels have revisited Badalamenti are Dream Warriors (Varese), Comfort of Strangers (Quartet), and Blue Velvet (Varese).

Where are the Vangelis albums? He passed away two years ago.

I've been wondering. It seemed that a steady stream of releases from his estate were promised after his death, and as far as I'm aware exactly nothing has been published since.

A Williams release so close to Sugarland? Seriously doubt it..

Why not?  It happened just last BF / December with Hook and Jane Eyre / Heidi

Apologies for my ignorance, but who is on the left in the photo?

William Stromberg, so they're clearly launching this tonight:

Intrada is prepping a new Kickstarter campaign featuring our usual team, with William Stromberg conducting the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. Up this time is Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein paired as a bonus with Henry Mancini's Abbott and Costello and the Keystone Kops. Stay tuned for more soon.

So no The Patriot :(

Still, the Fourth of July is just in a few days and there's always the Black Friday at the end of the year.

Must not lose hope...

I don't really have any nostalgia for Universal horror scores to be honest, but I respect that my old friends John Morgan and Bill Stromberg do. And I'm sure they'll do a fantastic job with material they are passional about. So I'm in, especially at the generous $20 tier which includes free shipping for US folks! That's honestly a big bargain over what the CD edition will eventually cost from Intrada's website, and I applaud Intrada for trying the price-break model for what are essentially early supporters, rather than charging Kickstarter backers more than regular customers will later end up paying on their website.

In less than a day they've already crossed the $10,000 threshold from 154 backers and counting, which is quite impressive velocity compared with the Horner campaign even in its Redux form. Kinda surprising, honestly! But I'm happy for Intrada and it shows the trust that film music fans have in them, I think.

No, I meant folks act like it was DIFFERENT in the " good old days" when Hollywood supposedly was all about quality

I suppose in the age of social media and streaming, it can feel like the amount of recycled franchises has reached new heights, since you pretty much can never escape established properties in a way you probably could in the past. Not helping is how much the box office is far more dependent on the tent poles to carry them through, rather than a more balanced line up that existed even only a few years ago.

And yet, would cinema have ever even thrived if adaptations of The Wizard of Oz and Snow White didn't exist? Gone With The Wind might be highest grossing film when adjusted for inflation, but even that is based on a novel! Don't forget the original cinematic universe with all the classic Universal monster movies that dominated the landscape at the time.

So I guess the lesson is that things never really change, even when we think they do.

To be fair, it's basically a 70's country album ;)

Since Intrada are the ones releasing The Patriot, each month that passes with no new Williams from them is a bitter disappointment for me :(

But perhaps they're saving it for the Black Friday... Or the next year...

Roger's statement today seems to imply Intrada will be wound up after celebrating their 40th anniversary next year... hopefully I'm misinterpreting. :(

Quote

Today, there remains a healthy slate of projects in various stages of completion at Intrada, all bearing Douglass Fake’s influence if not direct participation. Roger Feigelson, VP of business affairs, says “We plan to continue operation of the store and label well into next year, to celebrate Intrada’s 40th anniversary. We’re excited to share some titles that have been in development for a long time. The business is healthy. the market is stable—it just won’t be as much fun without Doug. We miss him already.”
