As far as I know (beyond Lynch’s own Twin Peaks vol 2 and archive releases), the only times labels have revisited Badalamenti are Dream Warriors (Varese), Comfort of Strangers (Quartet), and Blue Velvet (Varese). And I'm sure they'll do a fantastic job with material they are passional about. So I'm in, especially at the generous $20 tier which includes free shipping for US folks! That's honestly a big bargain over what the CD edition will eventually cost from Intrada's website, and I applaud Intrada for trying the price-break model for what are essentially early supporters, rather than charging Kickstarter backers more than regular customers will later end up paying on their website. In less than a day they've already crossed the $10,000 threshold from 154 backers and counting, which is quite impressive velocity compared with the Horner campaign even in its Redux form. Kinda surprising, honestly! But I'm happy for Intrada and it shows the trust that film music fans have in them, I think. Not helping is how much the box office is far more dependent on the tent poles to carry them through, rather than a more balanced line up that existed even only a few years ago. And yet, would cinema have ever even thrived if adaptations of The Wizard of Oz and Snow White didn't exist? Gone With The Wind might be highest grossing film when adjusted for inflation, but even that is based on a novel! Don't forget the original cinematic universe with all the classic Universal monster movies that dominated the landscape at the time.
