The Official Intrada Thread

There are two possibilities for the 70's western star, not just Clint Eastwood but John Wayne too.

If it's the former, I wonder if it could be Dee Barton's High Plains Drifter? I don't know if Intrada have ever released any music by Dominic Frontiere, but Chisum would be nice if it's a John Wayne oater. Anyone care to join me in a rendition of the opening song? No?

Chisum, John Chisum! Weary, saddle-worn!

High Plains Drifter could be nice. The main theme is on one of Silva's re-recordings and it's really memorable. Whether the rest of the score is as interesting I don't really remember (I saw the DVD 3-4 months ago).

I hope Intrada also handles Niehaus' Pale Rider at some point.

Two cool new releases have landed! Orders for both begin shipping on Tuesday, October 2. One finds a world premiere release of the score (at last!) to one of my favorite seventies movies. Part of our continuing celebration of Universal's 100th Anniversary, it's a complex soundtrack, presented complete in stereo from multi-track session masters! The other release is a U.S. CD premiere of one of this popular composer's best albums. Excitement all the way! Artwork and sound samples for both go up this evening. Pick one, pick both!

Definitely High Plains Drifter and King Kong Lives, I think. Glad to see we'll get another Universal 100th banner on a title. Doug hyped it up like it was as big of a deal as their Disney co-branding, so hopefully more stuff is coming. Maybe a lot got delayed

First clues for October 16th batch posted by Roger

Just in time for Halloween -- a Horror extravaganza. Two Special Collection titles. Both from the 60s. Both by the same composer -- a composer known for great horror music. One film is a trilogy of terror. The second is terrifingly humorous. Or humorously terrifying. I can never remember. Happy Halloween!

If new music for Halloween fits your bill, we can add to your choices with two new CDs ideal for the spook fest. Both scores hail from some five decades ago and both show this popular composer of the day in fine form. Even the cover art offers shudders. We'll have artwork and sound samples available tomorrow evening and orders begin shipping on Tuesday (October 16.) Hopefully we can some fun to your fright!

First clues for October 30th batch posted by Roger:

One MAF release featuring a rerecording of a score spread over 2 CDs. I like to call this one La Casa Roja.

The other is a Special Collection double-header featuring two scores from the mid-70s -- one western, one period drama. Both by the same composer.

http://www.intrada.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4793

Well the first title is obviously the RSNO re-recording of Miklos Rozsa's The Red House, previously announced here:

http://www.intrada.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4793

No idea on the other title.

Looking for more new movie music on CD? We've got two pretty cool new releases for you to choose from, ready for shipping to you on Tuesday, October 30. Watch for artwork and sound samples on our site late Monday afternoon. One of them brings you back many decades with a brand new recording in our Excalibur series. We've recorded every note of this masterpiece, too. Some 82 minutes spread over 2 CDs with music that is powerful, dramatic, sinister, sumptuous... quite literally it's one of this famous Oscar-winning composer's most rich and varied works. Beautifully recorded and played... and though a double-disc set, it's specially priced at $19.99 to help make it affordable. The other release features two soundtracks on one disc, also written by an Oscar-winning composer. Both are world premiere releases, presented complete, with dynamic stereo sound from pristine masters no less. Outdoor action for one, nostalgic romance for the other.

Fun note here. High profile composers sometimes get featured on DVDs and Blu-rays of high profile movies but lower profile composers rarely get the attention they deserve for much of anything. So it's really neat to find unsung hero John Beal getting his own special feature on the new Blu-ray release of THE FUNHOUSE. Definitely a horror movie with cult status, this one has a powerhouse symphonic score. What a treat to hear Beal discuss how that grand scale music came to be!

Looks like the LP Re-Recordings of In Like Flint and Our Man Flint will be re-issued by Intrada soon too

The original recordings of the Flints are controlled by Varese, but the LP recordings are in clearance with UMG as we speak. Taking awhile on their end, but we've located elements so it should be easy to do once we get the green light.

Roger has posted the first clues for the November 13th batch

Look in the Sky! It's a bird, it's a plane...?...that is NOT SUPERman.

And a late 90s thriller gets its first commercial release. From a guy known for his thrillers, this work is romantic, exciting, and, naturally, suspenseful. Probably one of the strongest scores he's written for this genre

http://intrada.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=5198

So, no Conan yet, hopefully the November 27th batch.

The first title he mentioned has to be Henry Mancini's Condorman. Not sure about the late 90s thriller that never had a release before...

Looks like one more CD has been thrown into the mix. Condorman appears to be the first one, a thriller and then a 2 disc set from a cult TV series. The last Battlestar Galactica volume?

From Doug's Corner:

11/11/12

There's a lot of new music to listen to right now. Jeff has stacked a huge pile of stuff on my desk for this weekend. So here I am on Sunday, just trying to go through it all.

So while we're at it, visit us here on Tuesday (November 13) for yet three more new Intrada CDs to choose from! We'll post artwork and audio samples for all of them on Monday eve prior.

One offers our latest from the vast Disney archives, this time a fun-filled blast from the early eighties by a multi-Oscar winner. Another CD offers a complex, frightening thriller score for large orchestra and chorus, scored by a master of the genre. Our third release brings you another 2-CD set of exciting sci-fi music from a cult TV favorite! Orders will begin shipping on Tuesday, November 13. Enough music to hold everyone for... well, a few days anyway.

First clues posted by Roger for the November 27th batch

4 CDs for two albums featuring two scores.

http://www.intrada.n...php?f=12&t=5223

So it's either two 2-disc sets, or a 1-disc set and a 3-disc set, right?

We know Conan will be a 3-disc set....

Roger has provided an additional clue:

One might be a late 60s crime drama starring an actor who just a few years later defined the cop of all cop roles.

http://www.intrada.n...?p=61471#p61471

As soon as he posted it, people on Intrada and FSM posted that it must be Coogan's Bluff by Lalo Schifrin

That would be great if it turns out to be so - it's one of my most wanted unreleased scores by Lalo Schifrin. I hope they include the 'groovy' song Pigeon Toed Orange Peel that Schifrin wrote for the nightclub scene. It's mental and so sixties.

Doug's Corner:

11/23/12

Lots of people will be pretty stuffed from big meals yesterday, others will be shopping like crazy right about now. So we're bringing you some musical respite this Tuesday with a pair of new releases. Coming from the bountiful vaults at Universal, both appear to be of little surprise, based on my email and the Forum. But I think they're exciting offerings none-the-less. A three-CD set covers one of the more important scores of the last few decades. Presented complete from newly-discovered mint condition 2" 24-track and 1/2" multi-track session masters thought totally lost forever, it's quite exciting. Our other title world premiere's one of the coolest cop action scores of the late sixties. It's been unavailable for licensing until now, and it's worth the long wait. And it features some terrific opening music dropped from most prints of the movie amongst other cool stuff. You'll find artwork, track lists and sound samples for both releases on our site late Monday afternoon. Both releases start shipping on Tuesday, November the 27th. Both releases will get plenty of playing time around here. I hope you'll find time for enjoying them as well.

Yea I don't why he's being mysterious, since he surely allowed the Underscores website to post the track list.

Forgot to post here that Intrada announced the next three titles going Out Of Print soon (December 3rd):

Jerry Goldsmith - Brotherhood Of The Bell / A Step Out Of Line

Jerry Goldsmith - City Of Fear

Michael Kamen - Road House

First clues for December 11th titles posted by Roger

I'm not giving much now because it's so early, but did want to say that we have our final three releases of the year on Dec. 11. With a rare golden age release in the mix for good measure!

Next three Intradas going Out Of Print soon (on December 17th):

Jerry Goldsmith - Rent-A-Cop

Charles Bernstein - Love At First Bite

Basil Poledouris and Hans Zimmer - White Fang

White Fang is already sold out at Intrada, as well as Screen Archives, but Movie Music will get more copies in soon

http://www.moviemusi...8340/whitefang/

Meanwhile, more clues for the December 11th batch (Their final batch of the year):

One release is a 70s western with an interesting musical history. The original score was rejected as being too serious and dissonant and replaced with tracks from earlier westerns that were re-recorded...which were also tossed in favor of the same tracks, but the originals from their respective films. This release features the complete rejected score as well as the rerecorded score tracks.

http://www.intrada.n...?p=61813#p61813

People on FSM and Intrada forum have already said it must be The Last Hard Men, rejected score by Leonard Rosenman
