Both being scores for films with a main character with a last name that ends in 'S,' these films are both natural competitors. But which is better?

I'm seriously thinking that since it's apparent Marc cannot be here all the time anymore another moderator needs to be appointed to assist him.

Yes, I've been saying that for months.

This is a crisis. We must vote President Crighton emergency powers. He can then approve the creation of a clone moderator army.

But what poster will have the courage to propose such a radical amendment?

If only poster Chris Chrusher were here.

Did the SB flick have an original score? I voted for it anyway, because SB is one of the greatest things to come out of television in the last decade.

Oh, Koray? Do try to avoid making an ass of yourself, old bean.

In its early days, SpongeBob really did have something special. By the time the movie rolled around, its fate had already been very firmly sealed, but if you go back and watch some of the episodes from the first two or three years, they've actually got some clever storylines, little bits of partially concealed adult humor, and genuinely funny moments. Pity it didn't last.

I haven't read the replies yet .

Edward Sissorhand is a classic Elfman score and Spongebob a useless score by a third rate composer

Let me guess, Koray is the one who voted for Spongebob?

*reads replies*

yep!

Which poster here is the closest thing we have to Jar-Jar Binks? I won't name any names, but...

Another moderator to... correct Koray's opinions? To forbid him from making jokes?

I agree.

The scoring of the show could be pretty hilarious, too. Some of it was wonderfully melodramatic...other parts were just laid-back and goofy...some of it was downright scary! If they ever release an album with a variety of the short pieces they used repeatedly throughout the seasons, I actually might buy it. Not that I expect that to ever happen, and not that I'll lose much sleep if it doesn't.

I don't remember the scoring to the movie, though, and I doubt it was anything special.

Yeah, I've never heard it used anywhere else, which leads me to believe it may have been written specifically for the show, but most of it ostensibly wasn't intended for specific scenes. There'd be a scary cue, or a suspense cue, or a funny cue, or a sad cue, and they'd just drop it in where appropriate. Most of the episodes didn't feature new music, IIRC, though I can remember exceptions. Kinda like TOS.

You've basically nailed it. But the show went strong well into it's 4th season. After that the regular and original writers left and the show became very bad. I haven't seen most of anything past the 5th season, but there will be occasionally funny moments.

Everyone starts out as a useless third rate composer. Obviously you know nothing about the show, aside from the main theme song and a couple of cues, it never had an original score. They used stock music, most notably NFL music. The music is a key aspect of the show, and I love it. I'd buy a score release in a heartbeat.

I absolutely love the SPONGEBOB MOVIE. And it did have an original score, and a decent one at that. Also a great soundtrack (love the Wilco track on there).

I love the film as well. I didn't expect it to be as great as it was. I need to pop in the ol' DVD sometime. I also agree on the Wilco track.

No Henry, to get rid of you completely.
