The JWFAN Haiku Thread

A nod to John Takis' classic threads at the Film Score Monthly and MovieMusic.com message boards. Marian likely remembers them well.

For the uninitiated: a haiku is a non-rhyming poem with 5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the second, and 5 in the third -- totaling 17 syllables in all. An example:

A feeble haiku

Is all I can offer you

For Wedge I am not

Other than the typical forum rules, you need only follow two others:

1. All posts following this introductory one must follow haiku format. (You can include multiple haikus in a single post.)

2. All haikus must fall within the topical bounds of the General Discussion forum (i.e., John Williams, film music, movies, music)

To kick things off...

Oh, Maestro Johnny

Have you lost your old magic?

Or have movies changed?

Those masterful themes

Those set pieces that thrill'd us--

A bygone era.

Haikus as I've known then, aren't restricted by rules

If they are to be in this thread, then disregard the following.

-------------------------

Tie me a sheepshank.

City hands,by the looks of it.

Personality clash ahead.

Clang

Hail to the Horner

All haikus I've ever seen are 5/7/5.

That was loooong ago!

You were at those boards back then?

What was your screen name?

A long-time lurker

Kibitzing since '98

Watch'd but never join'd.

A Horner Haiku,

A Horner Haiku for us;

A Horner Haiku.

Let's call it quits

Land of the Rising Sun, of old.

Largely the men wrote the 3 liners.

On the tree of woe, contemplate this.

Delicate harp thrums

A rising string tremolo

Fear, wonder mingle

Boy and alien

Two spirits broken, adrift

Friendship points way home

I am honored to have made it into your signature.

Honor'd you may be

But there is no honor in

Breaking the ground rules!

I hate haikus

Don't give in to hate

Hatred leads to the Dark Side

Oh, wait -- you're Vader
