Ollie 859
There are quite a few films where you can hear the obvious temp track.
ChuckM 1
Which is a shame because I believe he is classically trained and he never was a member of MV.Okay, so I just went through Rabin's credits again. What about Con Air, which he composed with Marc Mancina, and Armageddon and Enemy of the State, which he composed with Harry Gregson-Williams? Or were those more like James Newton-Howard's involvement with Batman Begins and The Dark Knight?
Ollie 859
I believe he and Mark Mancina are friends. I know he performed on Twister. As far as the other ones go he has scored Bruckheimer films but he never actually worked under Zimmer at MV.
Koray Savas 2,095
What Mark said. He doesn't like it when people talk to him like he worked there.
Ollie 859
I wish he wouldn't compose like them either.
Koray Savas 2,095
He has talent. Scores like Flyboys and The Great Raid are pretty good.
ChuckM 1
Yeah, I'll give him credit for Flyboys. It is pretty good. I haven't heard The Great Raid.
Ollie 859
I like the first 2-3 minutes of Titan Spirit or whatever the cue is actually called.
Neimoidian 13
Transformers are as clished as possible. That score rips from countless number of other composers' works. It does have some enjoyable moments, but it's overall a piece of poo (the same way like hamburger at McDonald's is a poo, but can be eaten with pleasure from time to time). Delorean90 32
I don't know if I'd go that far--the pleasure part. I could see myself enjoying it in an odd sort of way, but I just feel so inundated with that stuff that it's exasperating. I don't want moody synthestra chordal crap smeared all over my action/adventure films--give me some rip-snortin' orchestral fun on those giant robot explosions, thank you! I don't mind a dose of gravitas to the proceedings, but typically the RCP action scores take themselves way...too...freakin'...seriously.No, POTC will always take the cake for my MV/RCP guilty pleasure listenings. Datameister 1,394
My god you people are boring. For enjoying Pirates as a guilty pleasure, or for liking music to sometimes deviate a little from relentlessly epic gravitas?
BLUMENKOHL 1,064
For discussing the same subject in 7 different threads in 2 weeks with the same opinions and same arguments....EVERY....TIME!
Datameister 1,394
Wait...you expect people to actually say something new around here? To actually see each other's viewpoints? What's wrong with you, man?
