I saw this posted over at FSM.

I have quite a few of Mr. Kunzel's CDs on my shelf. The Cincinnati Pops, under his baton, have done a great job with their performances of film music.

Unfortunately I have had enough experience these past few months with cancer in my family,so I wish him the best for a full recovery.

Oh, what a shame, I really hope he recovers quickly.

The Great Fantasy Adventure Album is responsible for getting me into a lot of scores that I love (Cid, Hook, Robin Hood, Willow, Rocketeer, 7th Voyage of Sinbad, Conan, and I'm probably forgetting a couple). He also came twice to Mexico City, the first time for a Harry Potter and Christmas concert, the second time for an excellent Star Wars concert.

Best wishes to Mr. Kunzel.

I used to look forward to his new albums in the 80's and 90's.

Of course nowadays there's not so much great music worthy of his recordings

Upsetting news indeed. I hope Mr Kunzel makes a full recovery. Mark, I'm sorry to hear your family has had a run in with cancer recently. I sincerely hope things are looking up for you.

While I hate to hijack my own thread, I'm fine.

I've told some of you already, but my dad has lung cancer and has been undergoing chemo treatment for the past 2 months.

Unfortunately at the same time my dad's youngest brother passed away in June from cancer as well, he was only 59.

Best wishes to Mr. Kunzel and Mark's dad for a full recovery. Kunzel (along with Gerhardt) introduced me to non-Williams film music when I was a kid. I owe him a great deal.

Same here. All the best to him. And to Mark's dad as well.

Indeed. My mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer just as my summer break began and the past three months has been really hard on everyone.

I've told some of you already, but my dad has lung cancer and has been undergoing chemo treatment for the past 2 months.

My mother was diagnosed with stomach cancer around March, she just finished a bout of chemo, and it seems to have worked miraculously well. The tumor has been completely eliminated, but some lymph nodes remain slightly enlarged, but those have shrunk as well. So she has do more tests (that seems to be the theme music to medicine...tests..) to decide whether or not she wants to get the stomach removed, or take a wait and see approach.

So I can sympathize. Keep on praying and hang in there!

A rough thing, cancer definitely is. I offer my prayers to all those affected.
