Wojo 2,442
Then he's just going with the flow. He tried to return to his popcorn-munching-movie roots with Crystal Skull, but those shoes are too small now. If he wants to keep making scratch-your-chin-in-solemn-reflective-thought movies, and Hollywood lets him, then he will.
Hitch 55
A Williams Pirate Score?? Can I get a "Hell Yeah"?????Complete with annoying Leslie Bricusse songs
Greg1138 2
Airframe was a good read, but probably wouldn't make a good movie. Neither would Next. Not would, didn't.Unless you know something that no-one else on the entire planet does, Next has never been made into a motion picture. I mistook it for the Nicolas Cage film of the same name.

Wojo 2,442
I don't think Crichton's novel Next would make a very coherent movie. Unless they distilled it down to the adventures of the monkey-boy hybrid.
Pieter Boelen 633
An interesting question that I saw being discussed on FilmTracks concerning this film:If John Williams doesn't end up scoring this film, who would you like to do it?And who would be likely to end up doing it, if not John Williams? Greg1138 2
David Arnold please! Or....I could certainly handle a Lee Holdridge piratey score.
Pieter Boelen 633
I certainly wouldn't mind David Arnold or Alan Silvestri.Or give John Debney another shot at a pirate movie. It worked out brilliantly last time.Maybe even James Newton Howard or Harry Gregson-Williams.
indy4 152
I don't think Crichton's novel Next would make a very coherent movie. It didn't make a very coherent book, either.
Greg1138 2
It was OK - more of a comic thriller than a serious techno-novel....as a companion piece to some of his other books it's just fine....not earth-shattering, just fine...
Luke Skywalker 1,284
I like it, and it could work as a movie, there are many movies that start with different stories that meet-join in the end.

MSM 85
Yes! Finally! I always would have wanted a remake of Captain Blood with a swashbuckling JW score! This is his chance! This is our chance!! Btw I love many Crichton movie adaptations: Jurassic Park and Timeline are two of my fav movies of all time, and Eaters of the Dead, Congo and Rising Sun weren't bad either. An interesting question that I saw being discussed on FilmTracks concerning this film:If John Williams doesn't end up scoring this film, who would you like to do it?And who would be likely to end up doing it, if not John Williams?Michael Giacchino or Desplat.1) Edward Shearmur2) Ilan Eshkeri3) David Arnold
John Crichton 4
Arnold or Giacchino. Which would be my answer for pretty much any movie right now.
