Have the Shore signed copies gone on sale yet or is that a later date? New to using these specialty labels so I'm a bit confused.

EDIT: Wait, I see the release date is the 14th. I'll have to work out if I can afford the set first!

Thanks. Not sure if I can afford it anyway. I think I'll just pick them up separately at some point. I'll have to get his autograph some other way :P

I'm buying it either way. Haven't got two of those and grabbing all three in one slipcase seems like a good idea. Autograph is nice but not that necessary.

THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST Double CD coming!!!!!!

from John Debney's facebook:

So thrilled to announce that the Double CD re-issue of the The Passion of the Christ soundtrack is almost done. Wonderful interviews with film makers and key musicians. Spectacular! Thank you to La-La records

WOW!!!!

I love this score!!

(although I'm not sure if he picked the right word. Re-issue isn't it when something has been issued before? This 2cd hasn't been issued before)

But I don't remember the ost missing much from the complete score of the film. Did it?

Cool. The score was 70 minutes long or something like that. I wonnder whether this means there are so many alternates or that we're getting... a symphony version?

The score never did much for me, but the concert Debney derived from it is great and there's only a live recording floating around. If we're lucky someone made a good recording of this and they put it out.

I bought the score at a used CD store for super cheap a few years ago. Couldn't really get into it - lots of wailing vocals, sad generic "middle eastern sounding" stuff from what I remember. Probably very appropriate for the movie, which I probably won't see, but as an album listen it didn't do anything for me.

He worded his post perfectly fine. 10 years ago the score was issued on CD, now it's being re-issued, in a new 2CD set.

Yes, the OST was missing a lot.

Oh, so all Williams expanded, complete scores are re-issues?

I didn't know that.

I thought that eg. La-la land's Jane Eyre is a re-issue (since it's the same album with just better sound).

The symphony/oratorio was actually arranged and orchestrated by Kevin Kaska. I attended the world premiere (and even a bit of the rehearsals) in Rome back in 2005.

Tit for tat.

I think it was recorded:

It must be released, it's a superior version of this music. But then, it's a completely new piece, only partially based on this score.

The only thing I didn't like quite as much was the tad cheesy Hollywood finale.

Yeah, that was quick. Got one.

Even with international shipping, it's cheaper than all three separate CD's bought from Amazon.co.uk. So it was no-brainer, especially that the only one of those I had was Naked Lunch.

Nine titles are racing toward the Black Friday finish line right now. Only 5 will make the cut this year (there will be no MEGA EXPENSIVE BOX SET like in year's past). Three of those titles are just been approved and are off to print and manufacture.

October is always the most exciting, nail biting, hair pulling time of the year for us! At least we know our tickers are working!

Probably bought by a legion of Tolkien fanboys who will be bitterly disappointed that it doesn't sound like LOTR!

Shut up you, you, you...Godzilla fan!

In all fairness Shore has his ante LotR output which is usually quite removed from that epic sound and not as accessible but which is very good in its own right. He is also the master of such brooding and unsettling music that it doesn't always create the best listening experience. All those Cronenberg films guarantee a very varied selection of styles and moods but there are usually dark elements beneath the surface no matter what.

Nice interview, but really hard to hear a lot of it.

Subliminal or not, I finally got the Naked Gun box last night (along with Battlestar Galactica and Fight the Future). I'd like to think I know the films well enough to recognise most scenes from the music.

And MV has given a head's up about under 4 minutes of music lost to time:

Just so you folks know we are missing 3:40 from TITAN AE. We looked and looked for it but sadly did not find the following tracks:
"It's Me Cale"
"The Map Evolves" (a portion of it)
"Arrival at the Drifter Colony"

Wow - first time I've seen them announce something on twitter BEFORE Facebook and FSM!

Anyways, glad to hear that at least ONE of their Black Friday titles are approved!

Confirms the trailer music is on there too!

LLL just posted a much clearer (and bigger) version of the poster to their Facebook

Looks like the complete score ends 4 tracks into Disc 2, and then there are 10 bonus tracks. And it looks like the first track on the second disc is a really long one!
