It's great that both are now available for those who missed, but.... meh... where's #3?

I guess it's probably gonna follow...

I also hope for a release of that one. I am also intrigued what's new on the second one.

Interesting.  I’m glad the Lost World expansion is back in print for people who missed it.  Since I have the box, I’ll play it by ear and buy it if anything new and interesting is on there.  Also, kudos to whoever guessed a TLW expansion upthread.

Makes me wonder whether they finally discovered new analogue sources? Not keeping my hopes up though.

I’m sure if JP3 could have been released by now, it would have.

There could be issues holding it up we’re unaware of.

Both reissues strike me as just an easy way to maintain availability and also raise capital for some costly future projects, rather than finding some revelatory new source.

I'm sure it's not LLL thinking 'JP3? nah, we did the Williams ones'.

But it's also hard to imagine what problems there would be... just a standard AFM score with some choir pre-2005, and same studio.

It's funny that almost everyone guessed TLW without any clue given beforehand.

GP is great as well and who knows, maybe RED HEAT is not too far away.

Someday it might be Star Wars. Imagine how many people will be right THAT day!

OK, other than the really cool theme / concert piece, what should I love about JP:TLW?

They're all dead!

Mike said they initially considered putting JP3 in the box set, right?

When/where was that?

IMO The Hunt is good, but overrated in this forum.

It's a fine cue but the tracking in the film is far more effective.

Can't quite remember sadly, but I'm pretty sure he said they were thinking about doing a trilogy boxset at first, before they decided to just do Williams' scores. I think he said it in a podcast or interview somewhere.

Its not a Rocky score;)

Speaking of Indiana Jones, the Main Title concert piece for Lost World could easily work as a sweeping exotic theme for an Indy movie that was never made ala Parade of the Slave Children.

Have you not heard it?  It’s absolutely monstrous.  The percussion alone knocks your socks off.

Jurassic Park is the “Ooh Ahh”

Lost World is the “Running and Screaming”

It’s John’s King Kong or Godzilla.  It’s a freaking triumph.

I have the original CD. Nothing about it really stuck for me. Sometimes that just means that I need people to point me to the highlights.

JP for me is like the Star Wars prequels and sequels - I really got into Phantom Menace and kinda The Force Awakens. But 2 and 3 and then 8 and 9 I know the suites and that's about it.

But I'm always happy when a CD comes out that other people are excited about. I was losing my mind over Always while a lot of people were like "Huh? What?"

I liked the OST well enough, but the expansion really did its job in opening it up.  If you're looking for highlights, there are cue experts here that can do a better job than I.  But believe it or not, it's the jungle drum mood pieces that really got me excited.  Things like Fire at Camp / Corporate Headquarters, Spilling Petrol and Horning In, On the Glass, Reading the Map... It's the percussion and orchestral fusion.  You get a taste on the OST, but it is the heartbeat of this entire score. I think it's absolutely essential.

I think Lost World definitely works better as an expansion, which is a fairly rare endorsement from me.

Well these are all reissues, let's not distort stuff. Even if he cared he could've had them all already without buying anything from LLL in the past 2 1/2 years.

To be fair:

Trek 2 is an improvement to the old FSM

TLW has the film version of Ripples which is something Richard was interested in having.

But yeah, not exactly brand new Holy Grails you never knew you wanted or anything

Yeah, I wouldn't count JP/TLW amongst 'new' stuff at all in terms of new, premiere expansions. TLW will go into my cart eventually. (thanks, shipping costs)

I actually have the FSM Trek 2, but I bought that at a time when I gave into peer pressure a bit in terms of 'this is an important score', and not whether it was actually something I wanted.

You know, TND I could almost, almost consider purchasing as a sister release to TWINE. I just felt it needed too much playlisting to not be a completely overwhelming listen.
