The LLL sounds SO much better, its worth it if you love the score.  And you could obviously re-create the Intrada program from the LLL if you wanted to.

my ears are amateurish and i'm a happy little camper

No.

Going through withdrawal from the lack of new LLL releases. Fingers crossed.

Great!

Strange, why the three-day difference? I wonder if they'll do a Williams title now, or will avoid doing it because of Disclosure Day. AND I WANT HARRY... never mind.

Posted

And I suppose that June will be an expensive month!!

The "-2" killed me. ROTFLMAO

Hope you all got a good view to it.

OK so the two titles ended up being:

John Barry's THE GOLDEN CHILD (1986)https://lalalandrecords.com/golden-child-the-remastered-limited-edition-2-cd-set/

Thomas Newman's SPECTRE (2015)https://lalalandrecords.com/spectre-10th-anniversary-expanded-remastered-limited-edition-2-cd-set/

I picked up Spectre.  I like The Golden Child well enough, but not enough to compulsively rebuy after the previous release.

Posted

Spectre is one of my absolute least favorite Bond movies, so I'm not too excited about it, but I ordered it all the same.  And The Golden Child too, because hey, why not?

Posted

Snatched up Spectre. Always wanted the film version  pre title sequence with the gun barrel. Wonder if there will be any more June releases…

I wonder why they announced these June 4 instead of June 1?

Not looking a gift horse in the mouth here but what are the chances another Bond in July? Hoping so.. for me that’s all this 54 year old has been wanting lately lol.

Two days away from the next announcements, perhaps

Well, last month's releases were announced on June 4th. So is the 4th of the month the new 1st?! :joke: (Seriously, I remember MV saying that there was no significance to that date.)

Well, this 51 year old has been waiting almost a year for another JW expanded release

@Dr. Rick, I think you meant this for the Intrada thread...! :lol2:

Oh I've aired my grievances in that thread as well   I don't recall a longer wait between releases than what we're experiencing now!  :(

I will never forgive Intrada...

...until all five of their 2026 JW releases are announced! *

* Preferably in 2026!

I want Goldenthal’s Michael Collins as it’s the 30th anniversary but I suppose a WB title rules that out.

Sigh. What are the odds that, once WB is owned by Paramount, it will be more open towards labels?

Better than zero? Less than 100?

I assume it's somewhere between 0.000001% and 0.000002%.

It's more likely that John Williams himself will create an account on JWFan to share the recording sessions of every single one of his scores with us than something nice (whether it involves Warner Bros, Lucasfilm/Disney or AFM not charging so much for post 2005 US scores) happening with us.

Posted

When are they owned by Paramount now, in five years time or what? Do Harry Potter 4 already.

Also, at this point, do we have their original 2025 BF batch now?

Posted

Another @Stéphane Humez and Maxime Marion special means it'll be high quality.

Probably too much to have hoped for another Bond release so soon, but there's always next month.

Posted

The Zimmers continue! I've never actually heard of The Fan, but nice to see that despite heavy delays, things are still happening. Paramount and Sony are evidently the studios of the moment. Nothing for me this time, unfortunately.

I had half wondered whether, given paired releases in the past (such as Bad Boys and Varese's Blade), Skyfall might've been approved at the same time as Spectre, but that's probably naive thinking, given that licensing conditions for the songs alone could be a nightmare, and probably other intricacies.

Me neither, but I bet I'd enjoy it better, than his recent output.

Why is that funny?

Oh, I knew the opening cue! :o Has it been used elsewhere, in a trailer or something?

Probably just reminds you of Vangelis.

Continuing my focus on the important issues, I notice that Coming to America uses title case (like The Golden Child last month), e.g. 'Akeem and Lisa on Swings'. This is great! Unfortunately The Fan has the usual Capitalise Everything Style ('Stadium In The Sky').

I'm absolutely team Capitalise Everything Style... Sorry sir !! :lick:
