tjguitar 0 Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Lala-Land are listing this as Sold Out! Let the e-Baying begin for the slow ones....not quite. Its still available AT SAE, MovieMusic and Intrada. At least last time I checked...
Trent B 354 Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Get it while you still can, definitely a great set.
Greg1138 3 Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Get it while you still can, definitely a great set. Listen to Obi-Vosk you must - it's well worth shelling out for I think, even if you have either of the previous editions.
Mr. Breathmask 624 Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 I've never warmed up to Conti. Will this set prove me wrong?
Greg1138 3 Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 It might not turn you on to Conti, but it will provide you with a great fun score that deserves to be listened to more....
Ollie 1,375 Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 It hasn't been loaded on their main page yet but I thought I'd go ahead and post the link for those who do enjoy Jerry's music before all the grumps start giving their thumbs down.http://store.lalalandrecords.com/notwimyda.htmlThe score is Not Without My Daughter.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,172 Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 This is one of those scores that Jerry's did not particulary thought should be released, a bottle cap, as he called it.
Trent B 354 Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Hmm, I'm afraid doesn't sound like my cup of Dr. Pepper (instead of tea). It's one I'll probably pass up.
Maestro 1,594 Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 THIS IS A HOLY GRAIL!!!!!Just kidding.Jerry who?Isn't this the prequel to "Not With My Wife, You Don't"?
Maestro 1,594 Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Okay, I'm knocking this score without any knowledge of it. The samples actually sound pretty good to me.
Lurker 5 Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Oh and before KM or anyone else asks, this one was recorded in England.Neil
Maestro 1,594 Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Why does it have to be 3000 copies?? I just shelled out for Boys from Brazil!!
Trent B 354 Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Why do people have to bitch about releases being a limited edition?
Hitch 60 Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Yipee. Another limited edition of a Goldsmith score. Can't wait for JW to die so we can get a complete STEPMOM score
Joe Brausam 231 Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Well I ordered it, it sounds great to me and is a heck of a lot cheaper than the original release costs!
Jill Sandwich 11,029 Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Poppa Jerry just keeps giving and giving like it's Christmas all year round. It's not a bad dramatic score, with some elements really taking advantage of Middle Eastern stereotypes, and I recall the ending having a very sweet cue.I can't see this selling out very soon, though I might be wrong. Hopefully, it sticks around like Spaceballs: The 19th Anniversary Edition and Tango & Cash, because I have to wait until I get paid. Gotta pay to fix the air conditioner for Summer.
publicist 4,650 Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Never heard it. Any good? Then, most people were relieved that 'Star Trek V', 'The Burbs' and 'Leviathan' somewhat signalled that Goldsmith had recovered from his darkest days ('Rent-a-Cop', 'Criminal Law', 'Warlock' etc.)...after 'Not without my Daughter', every hope was on the razor's edge again.
Maglorfin 219 Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Didn't pass on Boys From Brazil, will pass on this one.
Wojo 2,458 Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 No disrespect against Goldsmith, but the sound clips presented sound like your average 80s synth score. I'll pass.
Ollie 1,375 Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Never heard it. Any good?Unless you are a true Goldsmith fan this is probably one the average person could pass on, unless you are missing some of his scores from that time period. But as publicist mentioned, it's similar to scores like Warlock.
Hitch 60 Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 I'll pass.If it was a John Williams limited edition, I bet you wouldn't pass!
Trent B 354 Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 If it was a John Williams limited edition, I bet you wouldn't pass!Depending on what it was I probably would.
indy4 160 Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 I'll pass.If it was a John Williams limited edition, I bet you wouldn't pass!You're absolutely right.
Jill Sandwich 11,029 Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 I'll pass.If it was a John Williams limited edition, I bet you wouldn't pass!Don't bother, Stacy. He's a psychopath.
Maestro 1,594 Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 My girlfriend, always the attentive listener, surprised me with this CD today. I don't care if you were interested in this release or not; gentlemen, THAT is love.(And so far, this is a really lovely score...)
MattyO 67 Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 New La La Land Release 31 October What could it be? 2 discs and often requested...hmmNot long to go.
Trent B 354 Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Actually MV posted on LaLa Land that a release is coming tomorrow but not the 2-CD set that they've been boasting about. The announcement for that has been delayed because they're still dealing stuff legal wise for that release.
Nemesis 301 Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 What could it be? 2 discs and often requested...hmmNot long to go.What would this release be? ID4?
Richard P 5,239 Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 I'm sure ID4 and loads of other holy grails have been debunked by most labels. And it won't be Spider-Man 3. I read over at Intrada that Sony won't give the rights to anyone else. Bastards.Edit - Young has apparently made a 2cd complete promo because of that, and people have it...
Ollie 1,375 Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 ID4 has been shot down as well. It's already been discussed in a thread on this message board.
Trent B 354 Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 ID4 has been shot down as well. It's already been discussed in a thread on this message board.Mark is correct. MV all ready shot down ID-4. He said because RCA still holds the rights for the score despite it being OOP. So until RCA gives up the rights to another label like LaLa Land, Intrada or Varese I doubt we'll ever see an expanded score for that unless RCA releases it themselves.
Vaderbait1 1 Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 If this is something worth buying I'll eat my hat.
Ollie 1,375 Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 LaLaLand is all over the place, which is good, but I wouldn't be suprised if it's from a TV series or animated TV show.
tharpdevenport 4 Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Batman: The Animated Series? It is. Some complete episode scores mostly from season 1, with one or two from season 2. And you can quote me on that.
Red 75 Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Batman: The Animated Series? It is. Some complete episode scores mostly from season 1, with one or two from season 2. And you can quote me on that.Great news. I really think Shirly Walker may have composed the best Batman music out of anyone.
tharpdevenport 4 Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 You can check out my reviews and sound clips over at my site:http://www.btasscores.150m.com
Ollie 1,375 Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Because nothing has been officially announced.
Ollie 1,375 Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Oh cool, the 1200 single disc is Laurence Rosenthals' score to Meteor.http://filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cf...1&archive=0
Nick Parker 3,049 Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Why do you only have nineteen posts?
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,172 Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Obviously an attempt by the Moderators to degrade and humiliate me.
