The game was also based on the book, and it borrowed parts of McNeely's book soundtrack (as well as parts of the ESB soundtrack) for the game soundtrack.

I don't know of any other book soundtracks. I often wrote or thought about music for books I read in high school. It's something I should get back to...

Yes, Jeff Wayne composed a rock album based on War of the Worlds.

...which is even more popular now than ever, thanks to the astonishing experience of the live tour....absolutely incredible show.

I tried to listen to that soundtrack, but I turned it off after a few tracks. I couldn't stand that music.

If I am not mistaken Lord of the Rings and War of the Worlds also have inspired composers.

Yes, Johan de Meij wrote his Symphony No. 1 'The Lord of the Rings' for symphonic band in 1988 after having read the book which greatly inspired him.

There was a rumor that plans were made to have Williams "score" the Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn.

I wouldn't mind if some capable composer wrote such a score, there is no and has never been a chance that it would be Mr. J.T. Williams.

I don't know, but I came up with the idea before I'd ever heard of Shadows of the Empire!

Ha! Me too. Started work on it, actually. But I haven't done anything more on it recently.

*cough* if a score of a video game of a book counts. Then I'm sure a score for a movie from a book counts too.

Harry Potter.

Shadows of the Empire wasn't composed for a video game, but it was used in it.

Just like I came up with the idea for giant dinosaur robots long before I'd ever heard of the Power Rangers.

I also created the word "diablo" when I was a kid. I'm a man of many talents!

Lalo Schifrin "scored" his son's first comic book, Spooks (with Andy Garfield-- half of it).

About twenty minutes of very good music; a very limited releases, unfortunately (500 copies).

ScoreNotes has a review and two samples.
