I saw Songs for Swingin' Lovers used for $4.00. I've heard it's one of Frank Sinatra's best albums, so I bought it. Liking it so far.

Got That's Entertainment on Amazon. Partially to hear music I've never heard in a genre I enjoy, partially to hear old arrangements in great sound quality, partially to hear Seth MacFarlane sing non-comedy music.

I was at my local record store and I saw two releases that caught my eye: the latest Gone with the Wind expansion and the Charles Gerhardt 11 track version. Both were only $4, and I decided to go with the Gerhardt re-recording. I've heard good things about GErhardt's work in general, I'm running out of space on my computer and iPod (and Gerhardt was not as long), I figured Gerhardt had better sound quality, and having never seen the film I only really wanted a CD with the highlights. Sounds good so far!

Just picked up Horner's Spider-Man. I'm seriously digging it. I'm noticing a "don't fix what isn't broken" parallel between this and Goldenthal's Batman scores (which, thank goodness that the Webb production didn't try to reinvent the wheel everywhere), this score fits comfortably with the Raimi films' music, and would have been more than fitting for Spider-Man 4.

Went on a serious Intrada spree recently to "catch up."

Charade, Hatari - Henry Mancini... both of these score an A with me, just fantastic.

Predator, The Avengers - Alan Silvestri... haven't listened to yet.

Squanto - Joel McNeely... haven't listened to yet.

Fright Night - Brad Fiedel... haven't listened to yet.

Masters of the Universe - Bill Conti... very listenable, strong action score, A-.

2 Days in the Valley - Jerry Goldsmith... Good late-period outing, B.

Once Upon a Time - Mark Isham... The music resonated more with me while watching the series than on disc, but it's still pleasant nonetheless, B-.

Island at the Top of the World - Maurice Jarre... My first Jarre, and what a blast! Never seen the movie, but I'll need to seek it out now. A.

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight - Ron Goodwin... Just wow! My favorite of the batch so far, an insanely memorable score, A+.

Toy Story 3 - Randy Newman... A little more focused than the first two, with some great moments, B.

The Black Cauldron - Elmer Bernstein... There's some fun material in this score, but I can't shake the similarities to Ghostbusters (mostly that Ondes) or the sheer length. Perhaps I'll make a shorter version to try out. C+.

Link - Jerry Goldsmith... haven't listened to yet.

Actually, I'm still waiting for Link to ship from an Amazon Marketplace seller. It was a good price (under $30), so I jumped. It's definitely OOP, but the prices have come down on it recently, I've noticed.

Be prepared for some Hook in there.

Really? I'd been thinking about this one... perhaps I should get it before it's too late.

I have a comparable pile of discs that I ripped last night, Marian, and may get around to converting them to FLAC and WAV tonight.

Have you ever been so engrossed in doing something else while you're ripping that you pop in a disc, go back to what you were doing, then pop the disc out and put in the next, that when you look at your rip folder, you find you didn't rip the first disc at all?

I bought Danny Elfman's Dark Shadows today.

I only made it through the first five tracks, but I really find it interesting how Elfman has sort of matured as a composer only in the last few years.

I bought Frederik Wiedmann's Green Lantern: The Animated Series from LLL. The samples sounded really promising, so I leapt on that... hopefully the copy I had included the autograph.
