Almost ten years later. You should be ashamed of yourself. ;)

Better late than never eh. ;)

Plus 10 years ago I simply could not have afforded to buy the box.

And how is the book quality these days? Almost 10 years ago when The Blue Box originally came out and I received mine (early March 2008), I was the one to start the conversation about the poor book binding quality:

The only weakness of the box I've managed to discover so far is the somewhat poor book binding. Although I've only managed to read first 30 or so pages of my book and handled it ever so carefully, the binding is already kind of starting to come apart. :eh: Has anybody else also experienced this? :(

Sooner or later, everybody's books more or less fell apart and mine is still in the same condition today. I know that they were sending out some replacements later but I kind of never bothered with it.I have the PDF however so I can at least read it on my laptop, phone, tablet ...

I'll get back to you when I get my copy.

BTW Screen Archives Entertainment's still offers the extra 45$ registered mail option since apparently there have been numerous reports of missing items in my country. I took a gamble and didn't add that to the already whopping 27,5$ postage. It's highway robbery! Which I hope won't happen to my package on the way to Finland.

I bought mine about 4 years ago and the book is in fine condition.

This is the condition my book is in, and I must say I've always been very careful with it:

Seen as how now SAE apparently ships better quality/bound books, do you guys think I could maybe still ask them for replacement, even though I bought The Blue Box when it originally came out in February 2008?

Yeah, time sure does fly ... I've had my own "JWFan 10th anniversary" a month ago and I couldn't believe it - been frequenting this forum for a decade and by the time I finally joined, I had already been following and reading it for at least 5 years.

Just picked this up on eBay, to add to my Williams' FYC collection. I guess I really paid for the box :lol2: since the CD appears to be identical to the commercial release.

Please send me a scan of the cover with good perspective, I will be pleased to add it to the discography! :-)

The box cover?  Sure, no problem.

Yes, yet another entry on my ever-growing list of unnecessary purchases. ;)

Continuing on your cosmic journey to own everything there is to own about John Williams. ;)

And yes that is actually a very cool little collectible even if it doesn't contain any new music per se.

Picked up War for the Planet of the Apes today at my local entertainment retailer. They only had one copy in stock and I visited a few chains of the same store over the week with similar results. I haven't seen the film yet, but was eager to buy it to avoid a Tomorrowland situation...

Yeah, Tomorrowland disappeared completely. It's not on Intrada's page and it's not to be found elsewhere either.

Karol

I bought Tomorrowland from Amazon a few months before it sold out. Didn't expect it to go so soon!

Probably on ebay for $$$

I missed out on John Carter and am still struggling to find a copy of Catch Me If You Can...

This is as cheap as I could find it.

Bet my signed copy is worth millions now!

It's called Amazon, dude.

It would cost me around the same to have it shipped from the US to my country. Hopefully when Amazon opens here in Australia, in my state, no less, shipping won't be a hassle.

I usually purchase CD's through Amazon anyway, I guess this time was just out of convenience...

I prefer to pick them up in shops if I can. Used to use Amazon quite a bit but with exchange rates against the sterling and the fact you can't get free delivery through prime in Ireland I've stopped. You can usually find a better deal on eBay anyway if you're stuck.

Nice, Bil!

I, also, prefer to shop for CDs in-store. I know that the internet is safe to conduct business over, but I still don't trust it. Also, if I had a PayPal account, I know that I would spend all my available cash on CDs, and that's not a good thing.

Also, I like to trawl charity (thrift) stores, and record fayres, and movie fayres, for soundtracks.

Yes, in-store you can inspect it and know that what you're getting is legit. Online purchases add that extra level of paranoia about prices and the handling of the product, and if it's a counterfeit item.

Plus I think in-store purchases help the store and the keeps the demand to even have a "Soundtracks" section alive.

Agreed. Where I live, there is one major music store (HMV).

Thanks, though, to some intelligent buying, and senior staff getting to know it's "tent-pole" customers, it has a very wide selection of all sorts of things.

If I want classical, a good specialist classical store is just a 30-minute drive.

"Yeah, Tony, life's been good" :D

We have two Tower Records in Dublin and they're both pretty good. They have the vast majority of new soundtrack releases and they keep a good stock of the "classics". Vinyl section is also very impressive.

Golden Discs and Tesco are good for latest releases and, in the case of the former, vinyl but they both be terrible for soundtracks.

With Apple Music I'm ok waiting to check the shops before buying something online.

Obviously for LaLaLand its online.

Ordered Waterworld from La-La Land on Tuesday and just reminded myself that I still have a $20 voucher for Intrada releases (from collecting their points) so ordered The Black Cauldron. Shipped within 20 minutes!

Got my Blue Box yesterday. Packaged in a sturdy box with bubble wrap and other padding it arrived pristine. It is such a lovingly crafted score release with meticulous research and well thought out programmes. I love it and I have yet to listen to the other 6 discs on the set. Looking forward to delving into this in the coming days! :)

Btw. Maglorfin the awesome book that comes with the box was in a fine condition and feels an looks very sturdy based on my initial perusal.
