James Bond 23: Skyfall FILM Discussion

I'm actually quite impressed with the directions I'm hearing for this one thus far. It sounds like they're trying to break out some from the "franchise film" mentality and treat this like a quality project. Hoping that pays off!

Isn't that what they did with Casino Royale?

That's what they said about every film since Die Another Day.

Much like the running gag in the Brosnan era, that every film was supposed to touch on a "personal issue" of Bond.

Isn't that what they tried with Star Trek: Nemesis?

The only difference Nemesis had was a director that had never had any connection with Star Trek before (coincidentally the same guy who edited Casino Royale).

Far better editor than director.

Extremely interested in this movie.

Brosnan is still my favorite Bond after Connery. It's unfortunate the quality of the crew declined so much that they dumped him from the franchise.

he was getting old, also...

I just watched The Debt and was reminded, once again, how much of a, well, debt contemporary film music owes to Newman -- but, also, just how much, in turn, Newman is willing to channel those who channel him. When the credits rolled I was expecting the music credit to go to a James Newton Howard or perhaps a John Powell, not the man who at one time was one of the most pleasantly distinctive voices in film music.

Ooh Blume has returned! :)

The trailer does look quite promising and visually impressive.

Bah, humbug! I was far too exhausted too put such effort into it...was up all night studying :(

Oh well. Just for the sake of voicing my opinion, I think some of the shots and the content look fantastic on a visual level. But I felt the trailer was done in poor form with some bad editing.

OK, finally had time to watch the teaser. I'm excited for the film, I liked the images shown. I disliked the editing of the trailer, the way it faded into and out of each scene - such an overdone technique. I hated the loud sound effect that repeated each time too. Also didn't like any of the music.

But yea, still psyched for the film. I'll be seeing it in the theater for sure no matter what, so it doesn't really matter

I'm not sure I like the teaser as much as others do.

A line like "Some men are coming to kill us, we got to kill them first" sounds very corny to me.

I'm at work so had to watch without sound but damn, looks really great based on the visuals alone!

Here's the US version of the trailer:

I never said the film would suck based on the first trailer. I just thought the first trailer wasn't any good.

No Aston Martin = bad movie

ROTFLMAO

No, seriously, this looks far better than the first one, which was pretty bland. Has the potential to be the best of the Craigs IMO.

Now, Mr. Newman, report to duty, and better don't screw it up!

The new Q, however, is a miscast I think. Looks like Scarecrow from Batman Begins.

Regarding the new Q, I hope he's just that... Q.

Not R in one movie and then magically Q in the next. No reason to explain the actor change like they tried to do when Desmond Llewelyn died because they never do it with Bond in the first place.

Well, the new Q is probably simply a younger version of Q, considering its the character's first appearance in the Craig Bond films anyways.

Yeah, that was dumb. Was it Die Another Day in which "R" changed back to "Q"?

Bond always drove an Aston Martin, it wasn't anything new.

In Casino Royale he only drove it for 30 seconds anyway.

no he ddint always drive an aston martin. And the early brosnan films use BMWs.

I love the vanquish and the dbs, and i would like them to continue the series using those and the new models. As a kind of trademark...
