Well, Desplat is busy with Potter, so maybe they had no choice but to get someone else.

Damn Williams he's not only screwing Potter fans but Twilight fans too :)

I enjoyed the experience of watching the first film. Being exposed to such an inexplicable cultural phenomenon, surrounded by swooning teenaged girls...it was a genuine pop event. I can't recall the movie, but the experience was different and fun.

Maybe the thing is that no one, other than teenage girls can sit through more than one of these movies and that's why they have to keep changing composers.

I'm just glad it's a composer I like. The stories seems to be inspiring in at least a modest way, and I wouldn't mind hearing another composer I like take a crack at it. Better Shore than Debney.

I'm actually not that enthused with this choice. Seems like a mismatch. I would have liked Desplat for another chapter to develop his themes that he introduced in New Moon.

For me this "mismatch" is precisely the reason why this is such an exciting idea.

Any man over the age of 17 only saw those films in cinema because:

-You have a teenage daughter, who you dont't alllow to go to the cinema by herself, because she might be prayed upon by a paedophile looking for vulnerable 13 year old girls.

-You are that paedophile...

That's quite true. You have a good point. I shouldn't be upset at a Shore score. I'm pleased with Desplat scoring Harry Potter. I do think we're finally coming out of the dark ages of film scoring when guys like this are landing primo assignments. In fact, I'm ecstatic.

I know a lot of grown ups that enjoyed the first Twilight and thought it was better than they expected. I thought so too. It's far from perfect but how many vampire films are sub-standard dreck? too many to mention. I did like Daybreakers but it's on the other end of the vampire scale. Grim, gory and gritty. But too short.

I have seen parts of New Moon but not all the way through. I don't think much of Pattenson or whatever the guy who plays Edward name is. The werewolf sub-plot is more interesting but also not developed enough. I don't think Meyer is a good author and so it's hard to adapt her stuff eloquently to film.

Just glad the Twilight series doesn't have an R-C score to it. Ahhhh, I just had to say it.

p.s. I think Yared would have been a prime choice for this kind of film in the late '90s had it been made then. And he would have given us an amazing score too.

John Barry has signed up to score Breaking Dawn.

Seriously? Wow, that's cool. I would love to hear a new Barry score! And man can this guy write romance. Somewhere in Time, Frances, High Road to China, Out of Africa, Dances with Wolves....terrific!

Summit is interested in splitting Breaking Dawn into two films. While one can argue that the final HP book was lengthy and complex enough to deserve a two-film treatment, Breaking Dawn is 1) too obvious of a money grab and 2) way too short.

Don't worry, I haven't read the Twilight series. I was just going by the page count.

It's Drax, I would take it with a barrel of salt.

Me too. I enjoyed the movie.

Only teenage girls like these movies and anyone who says they actually enjoy them is a brainless idiot.

So if A=B, and B=C...please draw your own conclusions.

But I will say, welcome to the club.

Good news indeed. ;)

Moderately. While I believe Shore will do a good job, I was hoping Korzeniowski would get the assignment. He was one of the composers considered for this.

Was he? How do you know that? I would have been interesting. I like much of his work actually.

I read this before, but missed this part.

Anyway, nice interview. I like the part of him talking about Thomas Newman being forced to write the same music all over again (from part II).

Thanks. By the way, he happens to be very open and level-headed guy with lots of enthusiasm. I really hold my fingers crossed for his success.

The Polish google translate is severly lacking, but I still liked the interview. I probably would have been more interested if I'd heard any music by him....

You can check it out on his website. Since he has had very few releases so far, a lot of his music can be heard there. Particularly I recommend his epic score for Metropolis, as well as his recent and acclaimed A Single Man (which can be heard in full on the official site of the movie).

they havent thought about musical continuity?

I miss old film series of the 80's... (and the prequels and LOTR)

80% of all major productions are part of franchises. If they all had musical continuity, the film music landscape would be so hopelessly boring.
