Best single track of the decade

Recommended Posts

I received The Aviator OST from a friend as a gift, but haven't found time to listen to it yet. I'll add it to my "to listen" pile :(

The Mecha World for the way it merges grandeur and sadness.

"The Search for Blue Fairy" from A.I. Artificial Intelligence

Either!

Ah yes, mine is either "Search for the Blue Fairy" or "Becoming a Geisha". I consider both to be possibly Williams' best work in a score ever.

Another great cue this decade has given to us (I don't know if it's been mentioned): the ten minute and a half long The Healing/The Great Eatlon/End Titles, by JNH.

"One Day" - Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

So is everyone in agreement about Hands of Fate, part 1 and 2. GOOD

I don't think it's really an overrated cue. Best track of the decade would be overrated perhaps, but Hand of Fate Pt.1 is absolutely brilliant. Pt.2 is rather boring though. I don't understand why that gets as much attention.

I hate to say it, but "One Day" from At World's End is probably amongst the most famous ones. And, well ... *sigh* ... it's worth a listen once in a while

:P

I could never bring myself to say any one cue is the best of a decade, but "Hand of Fate" is certainly amongst the top contenders.

Am I the only one who has never heard of a track called "Hand of Fate"?

I feel like no one brings up The Aviator except Morlock and I.

And for good reason.

Track of the decade?

This is a joke, right? You posted the wrong link.

Yeah, it is kind of overrated. Still, I think it works amazingly in the film. *spoiler*The violins that start in as Gobsons' character's wife dies are orgasmic!

It's great cue, but the impact on the film is even better. I find that a lot of times Howard's music "elevates" the scenes in films to something more crucial and epic that they appear to be. I don't know how to explain it, but if you've seen some Shyamalan movies you know what I mean. Hand Of Fate Pt 2 is lovely too.

I like how Shyamalan relies a lot on music as another tool.

Signs is a good score, nothing more nothing less.

It feels and sounds like a hybrid of Herrmann and Goldsmith.

Yeah, Signs is much more than a good score. It may make it into my top 10 scores of all time, it's certainly my favorie JNH score.
