Question for a Maracas player

Since the seeds must travel some distance before they hit the leather, wood, or even plastic of the individual maraca - meaning the player is required to anticipate the rhythm, which body part provides the best sound - the hand or the leg?

Speaking as someone, who as a little child, constantly grabbed the maracas my mom bought in Mexico for DISPLAY only, as she would constantly yell at me whenever I grabbed them.

It works best with the arms.

in fact a simple wrist twist suffices...

But this thread is mean...we are in a music forums...we should not mock the true musical thread. I wish i had music education (well... i wish i had ear and talent for it.)

Thanks Mark, I'll give it a try. I assume you mean the inner arm, since the outer can be quite painful - the elbow [funny bone] tends to get in the way.

Lee - who isn't in the slightest bit surprised that Datameister struggled with the intention of this thread.
