That place is the holly land for me... and btw 4 of the SW scores were recorded there.

Easy solution for McCartney, just put the Beatles catalog on iTunes already, that should generate enough income so EMI wouldn't have to sell it. Or you could finally release Let it Be on DVD, or the Hollywood Bowl LP on CD or well, I could go on...

I think most diehard Beatles fans have already gotten the new sets, or at least some of the individual releases. So releasing their catalogue on iTunes wouldn't generate as much profit as it initially would have. Besides, McCartney thinks Apple stole his logo and name, I don't think his mind has changed much.

I consider myself to be a Beatles fan, but I'm not buying any of the new recordings until the mono albums are sold individually.

They said The Godfather trilogy would only be available on DVD in that $70 box set, too. I'll hold out for as long as this takes.

I think iTunes would generate reasonable income, especially if they allow to buy single tracks. BTW the legal problems between the two companies were settled long ago, and the last rumors were that the problem was actually with EMI, I'm guessing they want a larger slice.

Knowing The Beatles, it'll be a long, long time before the mono albums are released separately.

Although Abbey Road is rightly known as the studio of The Beatles, my reverence for the place is Williams and film music orientated. Shore recorded there too.

WOW

What makes it different from all the other studios Williams has recorded in?

Yeah, it's a pretty special place. What's worse is the potential effect it could have on the recording of scores in the UK. David Arnold has been tweeting about this, and it sounds like it could be a bad thing for the industry on this side of the pond.

Sentiments, I guess. ;)

They'll start recording everything in L.A. reuse fees will cover 7/8 of the earth's surface and film score releases will die.

Or alternatively... if it's sold, the new owner may just decide to keep using it to record music.

With maybe just a tiny smidgen of prestige. Unmatched prestige, it could be argued.

I'm with you. The Beatles thing is cool, but as a non-fan, that doesn't matter to me nearly as much as the film scoring history of the place--which I had no idea was so extensive. My jaw dropped at some of the scores on that list.

I'd hate to see the place closed down. . . .

I'm the same.

It's worth mentioning the list is wrong, though. ESB was recorded at EMI-Anvil.

Regardless of what Williams recorded there, which I know it's what seems more important to the forum, the music of The Beatles, whether you like it or not, changed music history forever, and about 90% of it was recorded at Abbey Road. History was made in that place.

The whole point of history is that it's something that happened in the past.
