Lurker 5
Good question. I don't know what the "V" stands for (I've never asked). But Mike Verta and Michael Gerhard are two different people with two different professions and Mike Verta doesn't work for La-La Land Records.NS

Maglorfin 196
ID4 is coming (and Giachinno fan, you just made me realize how old I am getting by not knowing what ID4 referred to -- lol)We are wrapping it up now.Its a 2 disc set.5000 units$29.98 SRPIt's produced by Nick Redman and Mike Matessino, supervised by Didier Deutsch at Sony Special Products.I'll let you guys know a week in advance when it will be made available for order. And, yes -- Mr. Arnold will be signing some at no extra charge.Best,MVOH MAN! Do we have any (tentative) release date yet?! I bet the Arnold-signed copies will be gone in 5 minutes - if not sooner ... It's a good thing that I already have 5 or 6 CDs signed by him ... Trent B 337
No there's no definitive release date yet. MV did say they were wrapping it up so I wouldn't be surprised if it was released on 4/20. Someone asked if on the 23rd of this month and MV said no, not that soon. So either 4/20 or 5/4 but I'm betting on the 4/20 date.

Richard Penna 3,684
This casts an interesting light on the whole secrecy of releases. This is the 2nd LLL release this year that's been spoiled, and Spartacus has been revealed from Varese.I genuinely think there are advantages to giving an idea of what's coming throughout the year. Would be nice if Intrada let a few of their cats out.
fommes 153
What an incredible couple of months. Back to the Future, Black Sunday, The Goonies, and now Independence Day. Finally, some holy grails of mine are getting released!

Jay 37,346
Trent I don't know why Neil didn't just explain it properly the first time, but La La Land Records is run by Matt Verboys and MV Gerhard. The MV that posts all the time on the FSM boards - and therefore the one that confirmed this release - is MV Gerhard.

Wojo 2,453
No, it's because we're in a recession. The soundtrack label companies need to eat, too, and this is the best way to get our money: sell us what we want.
Jay 37,346
FYI, from what I can figure, the complete score, using just the final film version of each cue, runs 100:06. Then between the OST and both boots, an additional 47:31 of alternates have surfaced. Combine those together and you have over 147 minutes of music! I doubt all the alternates will be included on the LLL CD though - would they really put 4 versions of The Day We Fight Back on the same CD?That could leave room for additional alternates we've never heard before, though http://spreadsheets....MFA&output=htmlPlease fell free to let me know if you see anything wrong on there. And big thanks to Trent for his input.
Datameister 2,041
Although I personally won't be buying ID4, I know it's been a grail for many, so I too am encouraged yet again by all the big releases that are happening.
Jay 37,346
Really? Seems like this would be the kind of score you enjoy. Have you ever listened to the OST?
Ollie 1,059
Yeah I would recommend to anyone who appreciates a full symphonic score to grab this one, if you have the funds, before it's gone. There's a lot of fantastic writing, in fact it almost reminds one of what Williams might have done with the project, without coming across as a rip-off or pastiche of his music. It's Arnold's style and it's a better score than his Godzilla. And the good thing is, if you don't end up enjoying it, you can always re-sell it once it goes out of print. And you will probably get a decent return on it and make some extra cash.

Datameister 2,041
Meh, maybe I'll reconsider...I don't hate the music or anything, I just never really got into it, and I've been trying to be even more frugal than usual. The samples sound better than I remembered...but $30 is kind of a lot for me right now. No steady source of income at the moment.

Would be nice if Intrada let a few of their cats out.I've said many times that I would really like it if the labels could come up with, at the very least, a 3 or 4 month calendar of upcoming releases. I would have liked to order "The Spiral Road" and would have waited to order Black Sunday, The Flash and the rest of the stuff I've just got and I wouldn't have ordered Legend (which is not limited and could wait, not to mention that "The Spiral Road" seems like it could be better). As it is, I don't think I'm going to order it now.

Richard Penna 3,684
Roger over at Intrada posted that when a release was known with some certainty (and these days, many predictions are spot on), they started getting e-mails asking to pre-order.It's a shame really - I'd love to have a rough idea of what's coming, but wouldn't want the labels to have to barricade themselves against e-mail attack. I understand they might not be able to announce whatever they working on, and it's not because I'm impatient and need to know what's coming, but it is getting to be a very expensive hobby and a being able to do a little planning would be a lot of help. Wojo 2,453
Right, and if they plan to release Score X on the 17th of August, but as that date approaches, events transpire that prevent its on-time release. And by the book, days would seem like weeks, and it gets released in late December, or maybe never. If the soundtrack release market is as volatile as the labels suggest, much more so than something like a movie or video game, than perhaps surprising the fans is a smaller risk than angering the fans with broken promises. Trent B 337
The foot-warmer has OKAY sound...when compared to La-La Land's release for Godzilla you can hear the major difference in clarity. I'm sure La-La Land will give the clarity that ID-4 deserves.Edit: It's too bad that La-La Land couldn't have gotten Stargate. I bet they would have given us all the music for that, instead of a few new cues (cough Varese).

Probably because they did Alien and it's from Fox.I don't regard Varese's Deluxe approach very highly. Twice now they've tried to fit 2CD scores on single CDs, and unless there's a good reason (like the full score runs 1 minute longer than a CD), it's not how limited editions should be treated IMO. How much music from Stargate still remains unreleased? In that sense it's quite surprising HA:2 got a 2-disc, especially since it's Williams who must've lost an arm wrestle to let the entire score come out.
