John Williams: either The Raiders March or the Keeping Up With The Joneses Theme

Howard Shore: The Gondor Theme (the version played when P&G ride to Minas Tirith reminds me of a western movie, and i especially like the violin/fiddle (?) backing in "Lighting of The Beacons")

Michael Giacchino: The Evil Of Muntz theme (the theme played in "The Small Mailman Returns" and "Siezing The Spirit Adventure" when Carl and Muntz are fighting in the musiem room)

John Powell/Harry Gregson-Williams: The Construction Motif

I started to make a list, then I realized I couldn't pick just one for each composer.

That's no excuse!

John Williams: Darth Vader's Theme,

Jerry Goldsmith: "Damien's Theme" (main title from The Final Conflict).

Toto: Desert Theme

Queen: Who Wants To Live Forever?

John Barry: theme from The Persuaders!

Harry South: theme from The Sweeny,

Laurie Johnson: theme from The Avengers

Uematsu: Final Fantasy theme (the one that plays in the end credits of every game he did)

Kondo: Legend of Zelda main theme (but Hyrule Castle is really, really close)

Basil Poledouris.................The Jungle Book Theme

Hey, you know what? You're all right, man. No one mentions this score, and it pisses me off, 'cause it's so great. Here's hoping for a complete Intrada release in the near future (if I estimate correctly, there's roughly 15 minutes of completely unused music sitting somewhere).

DISCLAIMER: This list may change depend on my mood--it is not a concrete decision.

John Williams...The Raiders March

Jerry Goldsmith...The Great Train Robbery

Danny Elfman...Tess's Theme from Dick Tracy

Bernard Herrmann...Main Theme from North by Northwest

Erich Wolfgang Korngold...Main Theme from The Sea Hawk

Miklos Rozsa...Love Theme from Spellbound

Bruce Broughton...Main Theme from Young Sherlock Holmes

David Arnold...Russell Casse's Theme from Independence Day

Basil Poledouris...Hymn to Red October

Shirley Walker...Theme from Batman: Mask of the Phantasm

Michael Giacchino...Main Theme from The Incredibles

Hans Zimmer..."This Land" theme from The Lion King (is there a name for this?)

I'm thinking of the theme that plays at the start of the track, on some kind of flute. I think the theme you're talking about may well be Mufasa's theme--doesn't it also play when Mufasa lectures Simba and then plays with him after the Elephant Graveyard scene?

Oh yeah, I might have to change Shore to the Gondor theme. So many great themes in LotR.

I don't think the one I have in mind is the same as the Gondor theme.

The one I'm thinking of is featured in Andúril at 1:15.

Williams - Jane Eyre Theme

I thought of that one, but had to give it to the Force.

Zimmer - This Land

This was close. Very close.

Richard Alpert's theme from Lost

Can't believe I forgot about that one! :|

It's not, just you saying that made me think of it. :)

I'd also mention the Seduction of the Ring theme, particularly the main version with the boys choir.

Basil Poledouris.................The Jungle Book Theme

Hey, you know what? You're all right, man. No one mentions this score, and it pisses me off, 'cause it's so great.

The Jungle Book is one of the first scores I purchased, back in my youth right after I saw the movie. It's one of the few times I've watched a movie in the theater and thought, "I've got to have that score."

Danny Elfman...Tess's Theme from Dick Tracy

I think that's the one I meant to put on my list - I just never knew what it's called cause I only own the suite that was released on "Music for a Darkened Theater."

Bernard Herrmann...Main Theme from North by Northwest

And I should have put that one on my list, too.

While I'm thinking of older scores, I should mention Elmer Bernstein's "To Kill a Mockingbird" and Max Steiner's "Gone with the Wind."

Awesome font.

A lot of people seem to be putting just specific scores or cues, and not necessarily themes.

I like a nice Courier or System for aligning all the characters perfectly. The quick reply box works like that, but the transition to Arial or whatever in the body of the web page when published bumps it askew, and I didn't want mine to zigzag like everybody else's, especially since tab stops and multiple spaces do not work.

For a lot of scores that I like, I don't know the proper "name" of the theme; I don't think anyone can know unless it's the name of the track, a Mike Matessino-like chap has written extensive notes about it, or you resort to "the music at this moment when that happened."

Looking back, my list left off a lot of composers, like Conti, Poledouris, Broughton, JNH, John Morris, and Carlos, where picking my "favorite" theme is restricted by only having a handful of their scores. Although I'd say my favorite Conti is Rocky's fanfare, Poledouris would be "Theology/Civilization" (again, a track name, not a theme name), and my favorite Broughton is the main theme from Tombstone. Main themes are safe cop-outs when I don't know the names of the other themes.

Though I do find myself whistling the theme to Free Willy whenever I see a fatty in something way too tight. Is this wrong?

No two lists are the same in that everybody lists different composers. Each time I look at a new list, I regret all the great artists I've left off. Ok, regret is a harsh word, but golly gee.

Awww, cute. ;)

Cute, and a little sad, too. Doyle was on such a roll in the nineties before his illness -- with Much Ado About Nothing being his crowning achievement and A Little Princess not far off -- but he's yet to regain his previous form.

By the way, I thought of some additions to my list...

Trevor Jones................Theme from The Mighty

Michael Nyman...............Main Theme (as presented in "The Exchange") from The Claim

John Powell................."Footchase Motif" [for lack of a better name -- correct me if there's a more official title] from the Bourne films

I believe that's the main theme. I mean, there are tons of foot chases in those films :P You're talking about the motif in "To The Roof" and "Berlin Foot Chase"?

I think I'm gonna make a new list and put some more thought in it.
