I'm surprised no one here actually ventured a serious answer. Informal polls have indicated widespread use of psychostimulants (beyond caffeine) and beta blockers in academia. Given the pressures of the modern film scoring scene, it's likely some composers resort regularly to consuming cognitive enhancers. I'm just wondering how prevalent the practice is.
