BLUMENKOHL 1,068
Tonight, tragedy took place (the first of the night, just wait till your ears taste what's to come). My PowerBook G4 from 2001, my college companion back in the day, and one of the most remarkable pieces of machinery I ever owned...started making the sputtering sound of a dying hard drive last night. Spinning for 9 years as just a random computer sitting in the office chugging along on Folding@Home, it finally gave in about an hour and half ago, on the eve of Thanksgiving Day after 9 years of service.9 damned years! Everything untouched since it left the factory. 9 damned years! Out of a piece of modern day technology! Actually, the poor bastard still technically works, just the hard drive, its only moving part, gave out. I'd be lying if I said I actually feel a little sadness over the loss of a slab of metal. But even to the end you could feel the poor little machine wanted to keep going. As she who must be obeyed put it, "Awww it sounds like it's going 'I think I can! I think I can!'"I had everything backed up, but all these events prompted me to go back and sift through the world that existed on its measly 20 GB hard drive. Oh there was plenty of programming code from all the computer science classes. And there was a lot of Photoshop and graphic design work, some from my first job ever. But there was also something else...a folder labeled only as "MUS310" I minored in music composition and theory, so I wouldn't die of math and science with my engineering major. That particular class was the only we actually got to write anything in through the entire minor. Most of everything in that folder was crap, half finished sketches and stuff. Only one somewhat complete work. I remember the professor liked it somewhat, and commented it "had character" which I think was his polite way of saying, you have a good idea, but terrible skill! And he was probably right. So as part send off to the PowerBook, part humor for you, part a fun trip down memory lane for me, I present to you my superior to any other composer out there, marvelous work of art, of genius and brilliance:http://soundcloud.co...-battle-boardedFor those who want to download:Naval Battle/Boardedhttp://www.megaupload.com/?d=V5GIPH2F

BLUMENKOHL 1,068
I think what with all everyone posting their puny beginner works (David Coscina, I'm looking at you buddy!) , my professional masterpiece, worthy of its own Opera (and ballet, and 6 academy nominations and awards, yeah, one for best score, and one for best picture, because it's so damn good when you listen you can see a whole movie to it) deserves a second listen! This is the future gentlemen. I will teach John William everything he knows for Tintin 2.In case you didn't read through my thesis above:Download: Naval Battle/Boardedhttp://www.megaupload.com/?d=V5GIPH2FAnd you know, what, frack it, I'm setting up a SoundCloud just for this.http://soundcloud.co...-battle-boarded

BLUMENKOHL 1,068
I don't think he's got the chops. I don't think there can be another me to be honest. The only ones that could, died a few hundred years ago. Mozart and Beethoven I think were their names?
