La-La Land announces Home Alone (Complete)

For me, it certainly is. There are plenty of differences between HA and HA2 musically. They are super-similar thematically and all but as someone who is obsessed with the music to the first film (combining two genres I love: film and Christmas music), it's a must for me. In fact, I just created my own HA soundtrack album using the 1990 album plus a few tracks from artists that weren't on that disc (ie, Run Rudolph Run and Rockin ' Around The Christmas Tree). This new LLL release will fill out the score for me perfectly. Can't wait. I'll be ordering it, STV and Batman Returns for sure on Tuesday and possibly Jade, as I am a fan of some of Horner's work and Jade is a score with which I am not familiar at all. Very curious about it.

By the way there's a good possibility we MAY get Hook next year. MV posted this recently on FSM.

"Remember, the 20th Anniversary of Home Alone comes before the 20th Anniversary of Hook."

The 20th Anniversary for Hook is next year.

i think 1 cue is missing

No. One missing cue is when Brody is searching the waters for what he thinks is a body (i think)

But there is also material missing from The Big Jolt. It must be very good stuff, because John Williams edited it out for our listening please. :)

There's also a short (but great) statement of the shark theme from the beginning. I'm not exactly sure what else, but it's my number one JW holy grail (at least of those that are possible).

There's also "Downtown" and "Balloon Fanfare", by the Amity High School Band, and the film version of "The Catamaran Race".

Awesome! I'm not too familiar with the unreleased music from Home Alone but I love the OST, so I'll definitely order this. It's no Hook but it's still an awesome way to bring the year to a close.

:) I'd take that as a tentative confirmation... I just hope we don't have to wait until November 2011.

I'm both excited and dismayed by this release. I mean, I LOVE home alone. I did a full score study to find all the music and i can see certain things got left off.

The "soundtrack" material I don't care so much about. That stuff is on the Home Alone: Christmas Album.

I mean some of the other music. I can see the "Clothesline Trapese" insert is there which is good, and the "Christmas Carol Medley" I'm guessing is the Airport source music although "Jingle Bells" is listed separately so I dunno how it could be 7 minutes without that lol...

The Film version and album versions of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" are absent. Liscencing problems I suppose?

I was under the impression that the music that played as Kevin ran around screaming in the house was something Williams composed as well. That's not on the set.

And I'm guessing this isn't going to be presenting the film take of "Star of Bethlehem?"

Also, the blip of music for "Angels with Filthy Souls" is missing...

Overall a great release, sad these couldn't be included. I'm guessing they wouldn't have fit on the CD anyway.

I'm not assuming nor complaining. I can tell by the track titles and lengths whats not on there. Good to know you have no idea of the type of person I am Stef. lolI wouldn't idly comment like that if I didn't have some forethought.

But I have a feeling Home Alone will not last nearly as long. I think the complete soundtrack market has been expanding drastically, in spite of the economy. Plus, La La Land seems a little better at advertising.

# Holiday Flight - [00:58]

# End Credits - [03:05]

---- [04:20] which is [04:15]. It says album version so there is some mixing. The Album also has the choral mixed in which means the other version may be just instrumental but it lists "Choral" too but it may have meant the actual "End Credits" which has Star of Bethlehem in it.

There are a few unanswered questions: What is the Christmas Carol suite, Have Yourself a Merry Christmas is definately not on there. Angles with Filthy souls may not have had much written for it so that may be why it wasn't placed on here. The film mix of "Star of Bethlehem" is probably not the one they use (since the poor glock is off beat the entire time lol) but it means like 99% of the score is there so I'm happy. I wasn't complaining, I was just curious what people had heard as far as why certain things weren't on there is all.

For instance "I'm Free" plays as Kevin runs a muck around the house and I always assumed it was a Williams piece since I could find no credit for it in the credits if it were a pre-existing piece but maybe I'm wrong... that was all.

nobody knows who composed Drag Me to Hell

I thought a lot of people liked Christopher Young here and thought it was one of his best scores? Ah well. If it doesn't sell again I'll just keep it. Just needed extra cash. ;)

Hmm ,if this was the SW Prequels or Harry Potter I'd probably check if every nano second of score is in the release

As for Home Alone I'll just go along with whatever LaLaLand released

God I like Mike M. He literally almost always responds to me hehehe

Let nothing you dismay... This release is about the Williams score.

"Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" would have required a separate and cost prohibitive license, not to mention pushing the release to a second disc.

"Jingle Bells" is separate because it's not a carol. The others are (6 of them, I think).

Kevin screaming around the house was not by Williams; it was a riff on "Long Tall Sally" by Johnny Lyon. The "blip of music" you refer to is also not Williams. Cue sheet says "Trade Center" by Tom Elliot. Did that come up in your 'full score study?' We didn't have these anyway.

Mike

Christmas is coming, It's gonna be an expensive month. I can use the money for better things right now. I'll get this eventually.

Same here. I want this, but it'll be a post-Christmas purchase.

Well, the "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" was recorded/orchestrated for the film so in a way, to me, it's part of the film as much as Carol of the Bells but at least the album version exists. The film version can be ripped from the DVD and minus one siren is clean (which I'm gonna be using my MAGIX to fix :-p)

The two missing non-williams pieces are ok, and the source of the Polka music is easily ripped. The only thing missing past that is the alternate mix of "Star of Bethlehem" which is easily made from the DVD... and assuming they use one version of "We Wish you a Merry Christmas" as instrumental (the way used in the film) then we'd have pretty much everything...

I'll go for this as I've never actually paid for a Home Alone album yet (Varese sold out of HA:2 before I knew what the whole LE 'thing' was).

Missing songs/source music don't bother me - if the complete score is here I'm happy.

Hey, if we get the complete score AND ther carols I don't say no. ;)

I like to listen to these carols around christmas time.

Every year I make new compilations with christmas related music and I'm sure that on the new Home Alone Edition there are some new tracks that will find it's way on one of my future compilations.

There's also "Downtown" and "Balloon Fanfare", by the Amity High School Band, and the film version of "The Catamaran Race".

Don't forget The Girl From Ipanema by Antonio Carlos Jobim and another piece that sounds so familiar (played by the Amity High School Band when Brody and his wife dance) but that I still have not been able to place. There's also a bit of radio source music that might be by Williams, heard before the Brody Misunderstood scene.

Anyhoo, enough of the shark sequels already. Home Alone. Yes! ;)
