The first 20 minutes of Richard Prohm's "Foolish Mortals" soundtrack have been released, and holy shit, this is gorgeous!

 

 

According to lead developer David Younger, the soundtrack brief was 80s/90s spooky children's movies, with James Horner's "Casper" being the main inspiration. Granted, I also hear a lot of Elfman in there, but that might simply be due to the genre.

 

Anyway, the full 100ish minutes soundtrack will be released alongside the game on November 5th.

Japan got a physical release in 2023 (which I imported for around 45 Euros a few months ago... guess I should have waited).

 

Edit: or maybe not... the japanese release has a lot more tracks.

Oh yeah, the digital soundtrack release is massive. Also, it has an extra "disc" of the instrumental sea shanty versions of several tracks.

There were some samples released for the new jazz arrangement album of FF IX. Apparently it's vocal jazz, which unfortunately kills my enthusiasm, but some might enjoy it. The title and new arrangers seem to imply that it's not part of the excellent Square Enix Jazz series, which is confusing.

Amazing!  The original PLANET OF LANA soundtrack is one of my favorites from any video game, and this new one sounds incredible. Really hoping for an official release of the score!

I was also a huge fan of the first entry, both the score and the game itself. I just started Chapter 4 on my play-through of the sequel and the music so far is as great as in the first game. Some familiar themes as well as a couple of new ideas.

 

I hope an official soundtrack release happens soon but in the meantime, thanks @FunnyML for sharing those tracks!
