Tron Legacy Score Thread

Admittedly: how often do people performing in an orchestra actually look happy or at least seem invested in the material? A lot of what I've seen just have the performers very focused on playing their instruments and not much else. Admittedly, I haven't actually seen much concert performances in video form, so it could just be what I happened to see.

 

Anyway, really dig the suite Toothless posted! Shows how much there actually is to their music when arranged for real instruments.

If its more stuff like what they did with Jay Z on that unused credits track, I think I'm good. 

I think this particular video is a much better showing of the behind the scenes for the music, especially with how much the duo rely on collaborations (as well as trusted associates) for their projects:

I agree with the director! Disney should be looking at new revenue streams and all this existing music (earning them nothing in vault) is a great way to do it. This and Star Wars expansions would be very lucrative releases, financially!

For some reason I've kept hearing over the years is Disney zealously holds these things in moratorium... to "make money"? How that works, I dunno.

This is simply a re-release compilation of the OST and all the various bonus tracks that were originally released separately in the Special Edition, Amazon MP3, iTunes, and Vinyl.

 

There is nothing new on this release unless you do not have the various bonus tracks and is not actually "complete" in terms of what is in the film.

No expansion needed, the OST flows beautifully like a breeze.

 

But I'm glad this score has....uhm, scored so well with film music fans that are predominantly orchestral buffs. It's had a great crossover effect over the last decade. To "regular folks" too.

The bonus tracks are great, this release seems ideal to me. I checked out the other unreleased tracks when they first came out, but found them too insubstantial to bother with. I might end up buying this new version, hirezzed.

I saw this on Spotify last night and got briefly excited, then realised the few cues I have from the boot (or whatever it is) weren't on it. 

 

Is this just another 'expansion' put together by a marketing team who, once again, have no idea how scores work?

'Substantial' is a loaded term - there are a few pieces not presented on the 'Complete Edition' plus the Tron/Scherzo source music.

 

It's bizarre and misleading to call this edition complete, though.
